More details: Sources familiar w/House Intel Cmte briefing say that Rep. Will Hurd, R-Tx, methodically asked why ODNI official Shelby Pierson asserted that the Russians had a "preference" for Trump in the 2020 election, what was the intelligence behind such an assertion?
2/ Two pro-Trump stalwarts, Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, and Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, questioned how that could be possible given that the president in their view is the most tough-on-Russia president ever, such as his approval of providing lethal aid for Ukraine.
3/ Democrats such as chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., and Rep. Jim Himes, D-Conn., took issue with their characterization but agreed that the committee would like to see the intelligence supporting the assertion given how politically sensitive and charged it is.

The national security official I trust had some tough words for NSA Robert O’Brien’s comments about @BernieSanders on abc news, which contradict US intel —

2/ “There are these reports that they want Bernie Sanders to get elected president," O'Brien said. "That's no surprise. He honeymooned in Moscow."

That’s not what the intel says, the official told me, also taking issue with the political nature of the comments.
3/ The report in the Washington Post, which broke the story, stated not that the Russians want Sanders to get election president, but rather that "Russia is attempting to help his presidential campaign as part of an effort to interfere with the Democratic contest."

This tweet is packed full of lies. My reporting was of course on my show several times, including in a taped spot, as well as in CNN’s coverage of the story on digital & TV. I never even mentioned the NYT reporting nor did I ever use the word attributed to me in quotes below.
Honestly, anyone with any honesty and integrity can go look at what I’ve reported and see that he’s just making things up, including a word he put in quotes!

The *national security offiical* said the *briefer* MAY have “mischaracterized” the intel at the hearing — by possibly overstating it —

I did not use it to describe the NYT report. These facts matter.
