Oy. Big admission from NIAID head that CDC will be only using labs in Atlanta for testing flu samples across the US (including Hawaii). This could mean delays and bottlenecks.
2) the reason for the lab testing bottleneck is because CDC lab kits sent to states have been flawed. Only 3 states able to do their own #sarscov2 testing to date. This means delays and limited surveillance ability across the country. nytimes.com/2020/02/12/hea…
3) We also need to start allow clinicians to request #SARSCoV2 tests for their patients who have pneumonia and just returned from non-Hubei China, but are currently denied (only tests if Wuhan travel). I know a pediatrician/family who been clamoring to get tested but to no avail.
