@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure We are still working on the seminar materials - but everything presented will certainly be made available afterward.
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure The project we are reporting on was a small desk-study, reviewing international literature to support @EPAResearchNews scope a possible future larger scale study.
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure @EPAResearchNews So "proposals" are primarily just about possible scope and methodologies for that future project (if it is indeed progressed).
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure @EPAResearchNews We do propose a specific approach to gauging "fair share" national contributions to global climate mitigation, in line with most recent climate science...
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure @EPAResearchNews This focusses on *cumulative* GHG emissions (not simply a "point-in-time" emissions rate - such as "nett zero" by some date); and requires a modified methodology to correctly aggregate long- and short-lived GHGs (specifically, CO2+N2O vs CH4).
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure @EPAResearchNews This modified aggregation methodology (so-called "GWP*") is especially informative for countries like Ireland with particularly large emissions profile of short-lived GHGs.
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure @EPAResearchNews BUT: the methodology only *informs* choices - it doesn't do away with them. This deep in climate crisis, all choices are now hard. A good methodology gives a better basis for understanding the interactions: but it doesn't substitute for wide societal discussion and engagement.
@365Ifarm @dcu_ecrn @swimsure @EPAResearchNews Hope that helps: do please come along, or join the webinar, for the full version, and to have the chance to ask questions and critique the work. ecrn.eeng.dcu.ie/projects/ssecc…
