The Charleston shooter would have failed a background check.

But our laws allow gun sales to go thru after 3 days — even if a background check hasn’t been completed.

That's all it takes to give a gun to a white supremacist intent on murder. #DemDebate

This week marks a year since the House passed @WhipClyburn’s bill to fix this deadly gap, called the #CharlestonLoophole.

This loophole is no small gap. In 2016-17 alone, it let +9,000 prohibited buyers obtain firearms.

That puts every one of us at great risk. #DemDebate

There's no excuse that this bipartisan bill has sat w/ @senatemajldr for a YEAR.

That's 365 days while nearly 40k people in the U.S. have been killed by gun violence.

Not to mention how +90% of Americans want stronger background checks. #DemDebate #BackgroundChecksSaveLives

This week also marks 26 years since the Brady Bill was enacted on February 28, 1994.

FACT: That was the last time Congress passed major gun reform legislation.
