Watched the ZZ Top documentary on Netflix last night, and it was fantastic. Great footage of their start as The Warlocks and Moving Sidewalks. Big time bonus points for drive sequence in Billy G's '32 roadster to jam at an empty Greune Hall. Sets Texas knob all the way to eleven.
Though they came from Dallas & Houston, in their earliest days they seldom played the bigger TX cities; mostly beer joints and armories in New Braunfels, Waco, etc., creating a word-of-mouth mystique. Their first album was recorded in a house in Tyler.
Gotta be one of the most underappreciated bands ever. Their big-as-Texas mythos was never in tune with the latest musical trend du jour, but still works pretty damn good today. Playing 50 years with the same original lineup is kind of astounding.

Chuck “motherfreaking“ Todd up to it again.
Every program on CNN and MSNBC from noon to 10 pm was swamped with Trump stuff and didn’t have anything of note on Bernie, but not Chuck Todd. No Todd decided to run such a hack segment with a panel of 3 other people, 2 of which are either hacks, hypocrites, or both
The segments is pretty amazing so I’ll just go to the video instead of describing right now Assuming I can find it. Todd bid it at the very end of the program so it’s hard to find

It’s not that they are banned. They are de-platformed. They are banned from earning a living. They have been exiled from the conversation. That, is wrong on many levels.

Social media platforms by law can’t be sued as they claim they don’t exercise “editorial control”
However, social media platforms have abused this congressional exemption, and HAVE EXERCISED EDITORIAL CONTROL OF CONTENT by banning thoughts they don’t like or agree with.

Therefore, those protections should be stripped.

Watching the livestream of @LAW_witchhunt, before the meeting starts @ken4london turns to Graham Bash "you're Jewish?" He makes his speech first and then walks out "promised the kids I'd be home by 8..."
Leaving Tina Werkmann (who is she?) to introduce Jackie Walker and Graham Bash to the crowd. It's a bit sad really, the night before her expulsion hearing she wheels out Graham. You can imagine how his speech goes blah blah "I'm Jewish and it's all a smear" blah blah blah

1) How Context-Free Bullshit Spreads Online: The Case of The Veiled Woman on the Swedish Billboard.

So, the town of Gävle put this image up showing a local resident. The sign says "Welcome to Gävle" with the woman's name underneath. Because the woman is veiled, some were angry.
2) Of course, the implicit suggestion in many of the articles and tweets was that this woman was somehow selected to be the lone representative for the town of Gävle. That this was THE image to represent the city. Well...that's not quite the case.
3) The woman selected was one of 100 city residents, nominated by fellow residents, to represent the town to the outside world. Images of different people were all over town, and the billboard in question outside the town was digital, and showed a different person every week.
