Joe Biden has pointed to South Carolina as the state where his fortunes would turn around, and polls have consistently shown him in the lead. But other candidates have seen their numbers improve recently.

Here’s how the polls have shifted since mid-2019.
For all of the candidates, South Carolina is a test of their appeal to black voters. Here’s how many days each has spent campaigning in the state so far:
Pete Buttigieg: 26
Bernie Sanders: 26
Tom Steyer: 25
Joe Biden: 23
Elizabeth Warren: 21
Amy Klobuchar: 15

Here's a theory that has nothing to support it, it's just what keeps coming back to me. Joe Biden drug his feet forever to get into this race. Out of the main body of candidates, excluding Bloomberg, he was the last one to jump in.
After Obama himself told Biden the year before, "You don't have to do this Joe." He did it anyway, why. In mid 2018 Rudy Giuliani starts snooping around Ukraine.
He's trying to find out what went on with Chalupa and the reported interference that was covered by Politico, the NYTimes and WaPo. According to Rudy in Late November 2018 a former AUSA from the SDNY, who use to work for Rudy, dropped the Biden evidence in his lap.

Biden's rollout in majority black Philly was small, majority suburban and male.
Biden has zero policy, but much baggage.

Not my MIL who rolls her eyes over Biden but likes Warren nor a single other family member, friend, colleague or neighbor, whether boomer, gen x or millennial.
Polling has been limited and 67% say they are still looking while Biden's numbers drop.
