Sheeeiit! USCIS in Seattle ordered closed due to #CoronaVirusSeattle concerns.
per unlawfully still acting Ken, a USCIS employee visited the Kirkland nursing facility and was working between day of visit (22nd) and symptoms few days later.
Not to spread fear, but #immigrationtwitter in Seattle, please dont shrug this off. Our colleagues, clients and consults are likely to have had contact w ppl exposed and community spread may be inevitable but w vigilance could be contained.
If #CoronaOutbreak gets to the NW Detention Center (which is run by a private for profit operator) there would be a disaster. Medical care in immigration detention is basically non-existent to begin with, this will be catastrophic.

You must read @JeffGammage coverage of the hearing to understand what immigrants and their advocates face daily. The lack of compassion towards desperate ppl AND the constant lies & impunity of DHS & DOJ is just unreal.

Insanity! Off the record comments by an IJ: non-detained IJs were pressured to double and tripplebook individual hearings in regular 240 proceedings and limit case presentation to no more than 2 hrs regardless of legal issues & witnesses in 42B & asylum and 1 hrs for any other
LA immigration court has been triple booking for decades but many other courts have not and have resisted that practice for years. The practice is horrible for everyone as you do not know which of the cases will actually go forward.
My judge said this is aspect & byproduct of the performance quota and is very difficult for them. Court Admin are basically breathing in their necks 4 going over time limit. If this is true across country this is another level of awful. I know we can hardly call EOIR "court" ...
