You must read @JeffGammage coverage of the hearing to understand what immigrants and their advocates face daily. The lack of compassion towards desperate ppl AND the constant lies & impunity of DHS & DOJ is just unreal.

@JeffGammage You know things have gone to the sh*ts when a federal judge finds the testimony and conclusions of a medical doctor & physiologist "is not credible". WTF?!?
@JeffGammage Ok. Maybe some of the facts in the case are iffy but to fan what the judge himself calls "suspicions" and weave them into a finding of "unclean hands" is just unprecedented in this context. This is not a contract/tort case for g*d's sake!

LA immigration court has been triple booking for decades but many other courts have not and have resisted that practice for years. The practice is horrible for everyone as you do not know which of the cases will actually go forward.
My judge said this is aspect & byproduct of the performance quota and is very difficult for them. Court Admin are basically breathing in their necks 4 going over time limit. If this is true across country this is another level of awful. I know we can hardly call EOIR "court" ...

In this case the government seeks a stay pending appeal of the district court's order preliminarily enjoining Presidential Proclamation No. 9945, "Suspension of Entry of Immigrants Who Will Financially Burden the United States Health Care System."
Judge Berzon is on fire: she is just chopping Govt counsel into pieces. And she now brings ACA and subsidized care as a direct contradiction in the proclamation. Govt counsel is swarming but has no response other than conclusory "there is no contradiction". 3/

OMG! Multiple reports but no official confirmation yet that CBP has been ordered to detain & report all Iranians entering the country deemed potentially "suspicious" or "adversarial" regardless of citizenship status. Many US citizens were held for 11+ hrs ...
... at port of entries in WA state after returning from a concert in Vancouver. Unconfirmed reports of visa holders being denied entry.
There is a lot of sketchy info circulating about CBP "directive" towards Iranians but so far none of it's confirmed & no CONFIRMED reports that US Citizens or green cards holders were denied entry. So far it is very unclear what's going on, other than the examples shared @cair_wa

Breaking #ICE news: After holding a trial, federal judge in Los Angeles rules that ICE cannot rely on patchwork of federal databases to detain people held in state and local custody, invalidating the single biggest method that ICE uses to detain people across the country.
Judge also rules that ICE cannot issue so-called "detainers" - requests to state/local jailers to hold people for ICE to pick up - in states that don't explicitly authorize their employees to cooperate with ICE. That means detainers are invalid in states like CA and NY.
