2. Even though the overwhelming majority of your supporters don't engage in toxic behavior online, you need to show that you can lead the ones that do. MLK was a good leader. @repjohnlewis IS a good leader: lead like that. (2/10)
Tell your paid surrogates & staffers to stop attacking the DNC, & delete the tweets that gin up anger towards the DNC & the "Democratic establishment." You are losing because of VOTERS, not Dem establishment! & you need BOTH! When you talk like that, you just ALIENATE BOTH (3/10)
3. Focus on how you want to RESTORE or RENEW the DEMOCRATIC PARTY in the mode of FDR. Boomers LOVE FDR, because he took care of their parents, saved the country, & saved their lives. If you focus on wanting to RETURN THE DEM PARTY TO ITS ROOTS IN NEW DEAL PROGRESSIVISM (4/10)
...instead of talking about "revolution" all the time, which is language that the young respond to, but NOT older people, or those approaching retirement age, etc., you might do better in Michigan. FDR was a "blue dog" Democrat & THIS is the constituency you need to win (6/10)
People like your domestic policy agenda, but many doubt you can pass any of it, because you don't have the support of the Dem Party yet. You can win it. But in the meantime, focus on FOREIGN POLICY differences zw you & @JoeBiden b/c in that regard, you are more dovish (7/10)
You should emphasize your vote against the War in Iraq. Instead of tearing down Biden's record, build the case for why your own record makes you a more trustworthy president, who deserves VOTES. Your vote against the Iraq War is really what might win over skeptics (8/10)
...more than promises they doubt you will be able to keep. Nobody wants to see you focus exclusively on tearing down Biden for 3 months if the net effect of that is to make the eventual nominee weaker against Trump. Show you are bigger than that, show you are a leader! (9/10)
Lastly, communicate to EVERYONE, frequently & often, that @ewarren is one of your closest allies in the Senate, & whether or not she endorses you (she's being pressured from both sides NOW in serious ways), you have respect for her as a fellow progressive! Build coalition!(10/10)
Ps. It might disappoint your supporters, but tell the TRUTH: #PresidentWarren was RIGHT! Even though you want to pass M4A, as POTUS, you would not veto ANY improvement to the ACA. You WOULD support a public option if that was the best compromise possible under current Congress.
Pps. @ewarren was RIGHT: you would TAKE THE WIN and come back and FIGHT for more! You WOULD support more progressive primary challenges in 2022 in blue districts, but you would also listen to Reps from swing districts, who speak for their constituencies! The ppl's voices matter!
In short, if you want to WIN more WARREN supporters, then lead more like #PresidentWarren. It's not about "promising harder" it's about LEADING us OUT OF THIS MESS! It's about working to build a coalition, which isn't just about being RIGHT, it's abt persuading & even compromise.
