He can’t comment publicly because @jenntejada is *pissed* since she found out about his moonlighting project, BeeperDuty.
He got bopped up on cold medicine and created a really toxic work environment for Pagey.
Daylight saving time requires him to manually adjust every alerting window by hand, and he just can’t go through that again.
His “On Call is bulllshit, let it all burn” talk at NihilistCon, while poignant, posed an unacceptable business risk.
Chaos Engineering fixed everything, so there’s no need for on-call anymore. They’re winding down the entire industry in an orderly fashion.
In seriousness, @mattstratton is a shining beacon of empathy amidst the darkness. @pagerduty (an amazing company) was lucky to have him, and is less for his departure.
