[Spoiler Alert]

This is a thread about the Kizuna's plot. I will use information from the first trailers, everything else will be only with material from Digimon Adventure/02

At the end there will be a single tweet containing spoilers about the Novel, you have been warned! Image
For me, one of the biggest controversies regarding Kizuna is the notion that the chosen children would lose their Digimon partners when they become adults. For those who hasn't seen the trailers that I'll be using

Another controversy regarding Kizuna was the controversial announcement that Kakudou had resigned from his position in the production of Kizuna because "the setting of Kizuna isn't compatible with the setting of the TV series", but what's this "setting of the TV Series" ? ImageImage
As I already explained in past threads, Kakudou had his own vision of what the Digimon world would be like to explain everything that happened

The concept was that Digimon were the souls of the human, the evolution of Digimon represents the mental evolution of the human partner ImageImage
Going a bit to 02, we are introduced to the character Yukio Oikawa, a human who wanted to go to the Digital World, but could not. Apparently the Digital World did not accept "tainted adults" like him, but why? ImageImageImageImage
Then we have the scene of children infected with Dark Seeds thinking that "You have nothing to fight for", "There is no way to change the facts" and that ends up empowering Belial Vandemon, this is the power of darkness that opposes light of evolution. ImageImageImageImage
If something corrupted humans, it was this darkness, which, as we can see, manifested itself in the desire not to believe in changes, to think that something cannot be changed because it is difficult, or because it is not worth it (Something very common in the Adv setting). Image
When the kids finally believed they could make their dreams come true, it connected them with their Digimon partners. Everyone, even Oikawa. ImageImageImageImage
As we can see, the whole reason for why Yukio wasn't able to go to the Digital World wasn't because he was a adult, now he changed in someway and was able to go to the DW and finally meet his Digimon Partner ImageImageImageImage
In the end, Yukio knew who Pipimon was. He was able to see him (just like the other Digimon) when he was a kid in a game, but he ended up forgetting that, what it was like to be a kid. ImageImageImageImage
Oikawa understands that the reason he was unable to go to the Digital World was because he didn't believe in the power to turn his dreams into reality, when he finally believed in that power, he was able to perform a miracle (This scene always makes me cry). ImageImageImageImage
Basically, you can understand that Digimon react to human partners. If humans believe in the power to evolve and overcome their limitations, this is able to unleash the power needed for Digimon to evolve. And this relation between "dreams" and evolution is not exclusive to ADV.
In Digimon Xros Wars (Manga), written by Nakashima based on the Digimon Adventure setting conceptualized by Kakudou, the explanation of why evolution had disappeared from the Digital World was because humans stopped dreaming, and this influenced the Digimon to stop evolving ImageImage
In fact, even Digimon Tamers (who tried to distance himself from the original concepts of ADV to return to the original concepts of V-Pets) continues to maintain the notion that Digimon would have a special relationship with children ImageImageImageImage
Although not being very specific in this scene, we can see a relationship between the relations based on "believing", which is related to what we have seen so far. ImageImageImageImage
Returning to Kizuna, the reason given why they could break up is because evolution comes from the infinite possibilities of people, when you grow up they disappear and you follow only one path as an adult. Image
It is a common plot for adults to stop dreaming as before, now they become focused on just one thing, they become "corrupted" and it ends up affecting they in some way. In that case the loss of those dreams results in the loss of the Digimon partner.
But of course, this isn't something absolute or permanent

The truth is that this plot has already been used with Oikawa

He was once a child who had a Digimon partner, but he stopped believing in the power to make his own dreams come true, but he came back to believe in the end.
Of course, Kizuna ends up using some freedoms by establishing new rules to make it looks like as being more "serious" and "dangerous", but in general, everything Kizuna is doing makes sense in ADV story in some level, not only that, but it was already used and solved before in 02

In Kizuna novel, Gennai says that the this can be prevented if "you still have the infinite possibilities", this directly relates to everything I have said , in the worst case, Kizuna simply isn't going to use this well
