People who deny (and there are a few) South Korea’s remarkable success in fighting the virus say that large scale testing only makes the proportion of serious & deadly cases look smaller but does not reduce the spread of CV. Obviously these people can’t understand graphs (and
that’s the charitable view). The actual numbers of the july infected are coming down, that is the key point! Innother words, fewer people are getting infected. What is the connection between this and wide testing? Of course course it is because once people are tested positive,
they genuinely isolate themselves, not causing new infections. The Koreans are generally a disciplined people. Of course the testing is only helping, the discipline is more important. Athens Japanese have taken a different attitude to testing, more like the one in the a west but
although their new infections are still increasing, the rate of increase is much slower than in the West. Still, they have not yet turned the a corner, the Koreans have.
So, to make the point of it more clear: what is the point of testing people who have very mild symptoms or none at all? Well, of course, because they are carriers. And if they know that they are carriers, they will adapt their behaviour. At least if they are Koreans.
