Back in January I ordered various kinds of MREs in preparation for the #COVIDー19. One interesting thing is the amount of camouflage they need. 
The military wants MREs to be camouflaged a bit for certain situations. Therefore, "authentic" MREs need it. Even though customers for non-military versions have no need of it, camouflaged ones are still seen as more 'authentic' and sell better. Hence what you see in the picture.
MREs are rather a stupid solution for a pandemic. They are constructed for when you are on the move and don't have a stable base. If you are at home, then simply buying the underlying food from the grocery store is better, as in the above picture.
For example, a lot of MREs have a little packet of peanut butter. Just buy a jar of peanut butter from the store. Likewise, buy a full package crackers. An MRE is just the individuals bits separated into their own packets, which is wholly unnecessary if you are at home.
Though, a box of MREs (or the civilean versions) are still a good idea for when tornados, earthquakes, or other natural disasters hit your area, so aren't necessarily bad. I'm just advising you that they it's not necessary to rush out and buy along with your toilet paper now.
