Continuing my experiments with mystery components from Russian military rations
This is what I get opening them. The one is cabbage and bird meat, the other Yandex image translation calls beetroot caviar
They do not taste half bad, actually. People have an unfair prejudice towards brown sludge from expired Russian military rations eaten while trapped during the apocalypse.
This beet puree probably goes with something else, but I'm just eating it alone.
The last packet appears to be plum jelly that probably goes on these hard bread crackers
Lastly it appears to have some sort of candies for dessert. They taste really weird though.
In case you were wondering, this is sterno and a little stand - to light on fire to heat the other food. Here’s the flip side.
U.S. military rations have a flameless chemical heater that you simply stick in water to bring it to near boiling temperature, which doesn't seem to work as well, but hey, it's flameless.
Them: "Granpa, what did you do during the Great Pandemic of 2020?"
Me: "Well, you see, there were these sites called 'social media' and you could order anything online to be delivered to your doorstep, and well, I got carried away".
Our no flame heater va Russia flame heater. They provide handy mini stove, ours you have to prop up with a rock or something
