A more serious thread on jobs & vacancies (in Berlin, perhaps with wider relevance) and time and #CoronaVirus - started with this post earlier, and responses to that - inc. from @rewe_group

3 🇩🇪 supermarket chains - REWE, Edeka and Netto - are short of staff and need workers:
As @tagesschau also reports, German farmers are worried that with planting season coming, there will not be anyone to do any planting
There is also a practical guide as to *what* to do in Germany from @dwnews here:
dw.com/de/coronavirus…
One suggestion is to contact a food bank and to offer to help (I have contacted Berliner Tafel e.V., am awaiting a response, but they're probably overloaded)
berliner-tafel.de

I am also using Nebenan nebenan.de but for now there are more offers than needs
All of this for me comes down to intrinsic motivation - I want to help out here, somehow. Whatever I do need not be paid, because I am not in hardship right now (although in a few months might be).
I am fit, healthy, and not in a group that is at risk. I have a bicycle and trailer to transport things. I have a driving license (but no car). I can organise. I know IT (hardware and software). I speak English, German and French.
The question then is one of coordination, initially.

I am not alone in wanting to help - there's a new and large Facebook group for that for Berlin:
facebook.com/groups/2090884…

But where can I be deployed most usefully?
Might it make most sense for me to try to do some of that coordination? To make a "we need this" "I offer that" matching system, that's not available really Berlin wide currently?

Checking the main German job sites none are adapted for that sort of task
Or do I simply say "sod that" - REWE down the road needs staff, I can stack shelves, people need food - so I don't overthink it and just do it?
I'm pretty sure there will be a load of people in Berlin and elsewhere thinking this way - so what do we best actually *do*?

Suggestions welcome
