/ An experiment. I know a lot of folks are out there with serious concerns, fears & stories to tell about how the pandemic is affecting them. So, I set up a Google voicemail to receive messages. Think of it like StoryCorps, but anonymous. I won't publish your info or number...
/ But I will share the audio & sometimes anonymized transcriptions, so that we can share how we are all reacting to this incredible moment in time. Two rules- don't share anything you don't want others to know, and don't call in an emergency. I can't help you in any way at all.
/ In fact, I've set the number to "Do Not Disturb," so it will go straight to voicemail every time- I will never reply. Think of this as an impromptu oral history project. I'll call it #ViralVoicemail. If you want to share something you can try calling now (929) 314-4250.
/ This may go nowhere- but I figured it was worth a go to give folks an outlet, and potentially to see what patterns there are in people's experiences. And I reckon there are some good stories out there about folks helping one another, or contending with struggles together.
/ Who knows, maybe even folks finding humor in this moment. So if you find yourself moved to share- operators are (not) standing by- but you can leave a message at (929) 314-4250. I'll check in the morning and see if there were any calls or messages of note!
