Humans have lived on Earth for tens of thousands of years but only in the past few centuries, the time of colonialism and imperialism, has the planet been threatened by human activity. The problem isn't humans, it's a mode of production that relies on constant exploitation
Exploitation of people and the planet. Mowing down and burning entire rainforests for lumber or hunting animals to extinction for their horns is not a natural human thing to do. It comes from the drive to commodify everything under capitalism, no matter who gets hurt or killed.
And when you blame the consequences of exploitation on human nature, you blame the oppressed as well as the oppressor. Meanwhile the people most harmed by environmental crisis had no say in causing it, and the ones who are causing it just keep leeching off the planet unchecked.
Without a class analysis you end up floundering around in cynicism and pessimism. The only way to make change is figuring out who is responsible for our current situation and how this system enables and incentivizes them to destroy the world for profit.
This "humans are a disease to the planet" type shit has got to stop. You're wasting time contemplating some bullshit doomed human nature when you should be figuring out how to stop monopoly capitalists from setting everything on fire.
Which humans built these systems? Indigenous people didn't ask to be the victims of genocide. Africans didn't ask to be enslaved and have their land and resources stolen. Put your blame with the right people.
