Few work
Generally bacteria have a cell wall
Cell membrane
Cytoplasm which has proteins which are synthesised by 70 S Ribosomes
Nucleus
Human cell has
Cell membrane
Cytoplasm which has proteins synthesised by 80S Ribosomes
Nucleus
Few proteins
Nucleic acids
Antibiotics can work by inhibiting any of these
For example
Penicillin inhibits cell wall
Human cells does not have it
Virus does not have it
So
Penicillin has no action on virus
So
The dictum that antibiotics don't act on bacteria came
But
Later we expanded and started targeting protein synthesis of bacteria which used 70S ribosomes
Since human cells used 80S ribosomes this was possible
Though it is an antibiotic
It also.prevents synthesis of CoronaVirus proteins (by 70S ribosomes)
And
In the past two decades
Azithromycin is a common antibiotic in TN
If you go to any medical shop
They will give this
-
Now
This has come as blessing in disguise
Those affected with corona will have running nose (nasal infection stage) and then pharyngitis (sore throat stage)
They would have gone to any doctor or to PHC
And got this tablet
The virus would have got a hit
And
The sore throat would not have progressed to Pneumonia
Where as in Italy
You cannot see a doctor
Or
Get a drug easily
So
The virus would have caused Pneumonia
I strongly believed we were in fourth stage by now
But
Since pneumonia was not common
Many were thinking that we did not reach stage II
My hypothesis was that
We reached stage 4
But
Pneumonia less due to various factors
My point is
While
A large portion of those who got the virus developed Pneumonia in Italy
Very few who got the virus developed Pneumonia in TN
Why
Because
Few factors prevented the disease from progression
One
I thought was wide spread used of azithro
I said this
Other factors
Which save TN are
1
Effective Public Health Department
2
Effective primary care in both GH and Private - you see a doctor and get tablet on same day
3
Vaccines given to kids which save old men by cross immunity
Sea Spray
Most, If not all, were saying that our numbers are low because we don't test
I don't agree
Testing is not of use to find numbers
The real challenge is not allowing the virus to cause pneumonia
We have been successful in that aspect due to multiple factors
//Usually sore throats after the swab test, only if found due to a bacterial infection they give antibiotics.//
That is an approach to be followed when the aim is to save money 😁
Sadly
Protocols in UK, Canada are made such that
NHS spends the least
Same way
In USA
Protocols are made such that
Insurance companies spend the least
In all these countries
The public is fooled to choose a less costly option
They are intentionally done
To reduce spending on Healthcare
But
At the same time
The gullible common man thinks thay he has overpowered the doctor and hence is happy
