We won't avoid 1.5C then 2C between now and 2040. This is catastrophe enough to threaten the lives of 10s of millions or more depending on how societies/countries react. Global water/food insecurity & deadly heat will soon force people to move for survival.

3C by 2045 is not necessarily locked in. It depends on 1) whether emissions drop enormously in the coming 5 - 10 years, 2) how albedo, permafrost, and forest loss feedbacks etc kick in, 3) how much warming from aerosol loss occurs (global dimming).
