Makati Medical Center Medical Director Dr. Saturnino Javier: I confirm that the Senator and his wife were at the Makati Med last night for the delivery of a pregnancy that was due any time soon.
MMC: What I would like to point out is the fact that as early as March 11... they already confirmed a resource speaker in the Senate who was positive for COVID-19.
MMC: Several senators have gone on quarantine themselves... To me, that's enough reason to consider yourself to be careful and take the necessary precautions.
MMC says Senator Pimentel had body pains already last March 14.
MMC: If you have a colleague who is positive, all the more you should be extra careful and you should consider yourself to have the infection.
MMC: What is clear to me is he (Senator Pimentel) came to Makati Med despite the fact he is supposed to be on home quarantine.
MMC: He (Senator Pimentel) violated his home quarantine, exposed health workers to possible infection, and therefore to me, that is reckless and unacceptable.
MMC: We must have contact traced around six to eight people.
MMC says two or three of those who were in contact with Senator Pimentel are now on quarantine.
MMC says that it already disinfected the entire delivery room complex.
MMC: When you have personnel in the examination room, since it is adjacent to the delivery room, those people will go in and out of the place.
MMC: Even if you don't directly enter any of the delivery suites, the mere fact that you entered the foyer of this delivery complex and the examination room, that's enough for us to be cautious.
Senator Koko Pimentel: I am very sorry that this thing happened.
Senator Pimentel: Basta when I went to the hospital yesterday, 6pm-7pm, wala pa akong natanggap na news na positive ako. I just got the news at 9pm.
Senator Pimentel: Yung movement ko kagabi, I deemed it to be essential kasi sinasamahan ko nga yung wife ko na supposed to be manganganak na.
Senator Pimentel: Pakiusap ko nalang po ay not to discriminate against my wife and the child in her tummy.
Senator Pimentel: Hindi po ako umuubo. My wife is still in Makati Med, I won't go there but I wish people won't discriminate against her.
Senator Pimentel reiterates that he immediately went out of the hospital after receiving the news that he is positive of the virus.
Senator Pimentel says he immediately called his wife's doctor and left the hospital when he received information that he tested positive for COVID-19.
Senator Pimentel says that it was only once that he had a temperature of 38 degrees and he is not coughing.
Senator Pimentel: Yung quarantine kasi for non-essential movement. From my point of view, manganganak yung misis ko. Sinong kasama yung misis mo? Eh di ikaw.
Senator Pimentel: Halos de facto isolated na rin ako dahil wala namang mga lakad na tinanggap ko at na-cancel naman din lahat.
Senator Pimentel says he has hardly been out of their house since March 11.
Pimentel says he attended a meeting on March 9, and birthday parties on March 10 and 11.
Senator Pimentel: I hope I did not. But tama yung ginawa ng Makati Med. I think, nakita naman nila yung movement ko sa hospital, very minimal rin.
Senator Pimentel: I'm sorry that this happened. Farthest from my mind yun. I am an expectant father, sinamahan ko yung wife ko who was supposed to give birth without finding na positive po ako.
Senator Pimentel: I beg for the understanding of Makati Med. Saka na natin pagusapan kung ano yung sinasabi nilang mga lapses. In the meantime, please take care of my wife.
