Moving into our first home while WFH full time during a pandemic is... a lot.

My husband is taking a luxuriously long shower listening to old country while I drink reheated day-old coffee in clothes I’ve been wearing 2 days and stuff things in boxes. Is my hair... matted? Yes.
Still in the shower. I can kill him for this, right?

Essential personnel without cars who use the W&OD to bike to work are now blocked frequently by the many pedestrians out walking; it’s both dangerous and keeps them from getting to work/home after a long day.

How can we let people know to move for cyclists/stop crowding?
They’re not complaining; they’ve asked for alternate routes as a solution—but if these cyclists “take the lane” it creates abundant new problems.
People WANT to do the right thing when they’re told what the right thing is.

If I made a few signs: ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL RIDE THIS TRAILS TO WORK—PLEASE KEEP OUT OF THEIR WAY ...would that work? #bikedc

In a time when misinformation is rampant, the media has fixated on:

- dunking on Trump for badly explaining Google’s #COVID19 website

- calling him a racist for resisting overt CCP propaganda

- claiming he said FDA had ALREADY approved anti-malaria drugs (he did not say that)
Did I miss any?
Oh I forgot:

- pretending his administration cut funding to the CDC’s anti-pandemic work (he didn’t)

- lying (and failing to correct Biden’s blatant lying) about the lack of available testing and who bears responsibility for the lack of tests

It’s been a long week!

1/ Good morning #WFH people! Time for another #virtualrailfanning adventure. Today's adventure comes from August 2013 when @NSWTrains decided to run SP41/SP42 to Griffith via Temora instead of via Narranderra. Why did they do this? Read on for the answer...
2/ Fortunately, there are two ways to get to Griffith by train as shown, which was useful when the route via Junee and Narranderra was closed for trackwork in August 2013. This meant that instead of bustitution, a train was able to be run. (Map by Quaidy at English Wikipedia)
3/ So this is where the story begins. I was living in Melbourne and a friend and I decided to drive up to Griffith, catch the NSW Trains coach to Cootamundra, get the train to Griffith, then drive home. Arriving at Griffith, we saw a late-running 5MC3 freight from Melbourne.

This #pandemic preparedness stuff is from FEMA/CERT, disappeared from the web earlier this month but may be useful. Thread below.
Basics on #pandemics (note: this particular one does *not* appear to affect infants as much, thankfullly).
CERT/FEMA's materials suggest two weeks of food/water. I know there's a lot of debate about water; this is what CERT/FEMA has in the material on pandemics, (same recommendations as DHS/etc.). (My note: Wuhan is on week 7 or 8 of lockdown)

I'm going to tweet a very personal 'rant' regarding formal education (academics) in the hopes of receiving resourceful guidance and practical solutions. Basically, I need help from those who can understand and advise [Thread]
I secured good grade grades in Matriculation from a renowned private school, stood 3rd in the campus. However, on an overall, I did not have 'exceptional merit' to enroll at GCU or FCC. I settled for a less-known public college in Lahore, eventually.
The college I had to settle for, had an environment which was extremely unsettling for me: frequent strikes and class-cancellations by IJT, zero administrative support, fellows who labelled me a 'burger'...

Today, I will try my hand at live tweeting insights from "A #Home of One's Own", a two-day #researchworkshop on socially & economically #marginalised women's experiences of and negotiations with #genderinequalities in #informalurbanhousing in India.
This workshop has been organised by #JadavpurUniversity (School of Women's Studies), #RabindraBharathiUniversity (Centre for Women's Studies) and #Parichiti, a women's organisation. All three are research partners on a #GCRF project funded by @GoldsmithsUoL.
Since Oct 2018, I have collaborated with Dr. Henrike Donner, who is leading it, to develop #researchcollaborations with #educational and #development organisations in India to implement a pilot study on #genderurbanhousing. This workshop marks the end of the first phase.
