We have the most cases because we’ve done the most tests, why is that so hard to understand? #CoronavirusUSA #COVID
Some stats for the weirdos yelling at me. UK has conducted 104,866 tests to date.
Contrast that to 540,252 tests done by US to date.
South Korea (that everyone is obsessed with) has done 357,896 tests.
This is a good breakdown of each state and of tests vs positive results. Remember haters it's up to your Governor and local authorities to test.
If that data is accurate (remember States are slow to report and share) Missouri, Maryland and Arizona are a bit worrisome. Low testing numbers with positive results.
France is unfortunately having trouble testing, also citing lack of tests and supplies but plans to mass test soon?

Spain was screwed by China, they bought all their test kits from them and they were garbage. Very sad.

UK is one to watch, not trying to be Debbie downer but considering we've done almost five times as many tests they're on track to have way more confirmed cases (assuming they test)

This is wild. Germany has basically closed it's borders but more importantly they've identified Austria as the Country that brought most exposure (China is never mentioned) they've taken it off risk map.

Austria has performed 39,552 tests. IF Germany is correct that many were exposed there, this is a very troublesome number of tests performed ugh. There is talk they will soon begin mass testing.

Huh? As of March 19th UK no longer considers #COVIDー19 to be an HICD (high consequence infectious disease) to qualify as an HIDC the virus must:
🦠not have a treatment
🦠be spread by direct contact with patients, droplets etc
They also say it has low mortality rate.
So confused. Either they’re missing something or we are.

I remember looking at facebook. My local friends feeds were of devastation and largely unsolvable problems, and so, so many questions. While for everyone outside the blast radius, life just goes on. Birthdays and pet pics and memes and life, as it should be.

Boris has announced NO NEW MEASURES to contain #COVID-19, & has basically said "keep calm and carry on." No school closures, no university closures & a belief that "banning big gatherings won't help, & may make things worse." Spectacular leadership failure at a watershed moment.
They're stopping testing all cases & will essentially lose a sense of how many cases there are. They're saying that the population needs to develop "immunity" for when this comes around again, & that people should realise that they will lose many more loved ones before their time
Somehow the British government keeps insisting that they are "following the science" but are taking the opposite course of action to every other country in the world. They expect to already have 5-10 000 cases, and are no longer going to accurately keep score...

Over the past few weeks I’ve fielded countless questions from worried parents and families about #CoronavirusUSA and #COVID. The amazing thing is most families have not been panicking but moreso just want their bearings. How worried should they be? What keeps kids safe? 1/
The first thing I’ve found is to acknowledge the fear. This is scary and there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation. That’s okay. Doctors are here to help and it’s okay to ask. The second is to not panic. People should be concerned, aware, but not panicked or dismissive. 2/
Next give reference points. This isn’t World War Z. It isn’t Ebola with its >50% mortality but it isn’t flu (as many say) with ~0.1%. Lots of data says ~2% but that’s probably a bit high because we’re testing so few. It depends on risk factors. Regardless don’t bulk buy TP. 3/
