Over 1.81 million cases and over 105,500 deaths.

Every person that will suffer, that will die, because of these protests, these riots, is on Trump and his accomplices.

Trump has used any diversion to distract from the Coronavirus pandemic and that is why he now pours oil into the fire.

His actions and inactions in the last weeks, and months, regarding the pandemic have ensured this outcome.

From the very beginning he has lied and denied.

Played with people's fears and uncertainties.

He has thrived in confusion, misinformation and disinformation.

He has ensured that trust was misplaced, lost or forgotten.

Instead of leading by example he has selfishly divided the country.

Nearly 100,000 people have died and trump does not care. He is golfing and having airplanes fly "Keep America Great" banners over beaches. And he is tweeting lies about how #coronavirus case numbers are going down all over the country.
He is spending time accusing news talk show pundits of murder, and Democrats of mail-in voting fraud (even though he votes this way) while saying Republicans need to control the vote or they would never be voted in.
The New York Times @nytimes did an amazing job with remembering those lost so far to #COVID19 . It is presented on their app in an interactive way and really hit home. Just think they listed only about 1% of all Americans known to have died so far from this horrible disease.

23 Aprill 2020 - #MAGAAnalysis #CoronavirusUSA

A meditation on participatory reading.

These four books weren't chosen randomly, but chaos surely plays a part. I am NOT recommending any of them right. I'm using them to illustrate something.
We will get to the three books I am recommending below. First, however, we are going to discuss what participatory reading is, how it works, and exactly why you MUST master this practice. I did NOT invent this term, but I will be sharing my own very personal approach.
So first, why those four books above? I have read all four, and can identify, without cracking any of them open, each of their most important points. If, like me, you're booky type of person, and read them, we'd likely disagree and that would be grand fun! We'd argue.

@realDonaldTrump is the biggest danger this country has faced in a LONG time. He keeps people ignorant. The two strongest #TrumpSupporters at my job kept repeating his narrative: "this is a #Democrat hoax, this is #FakeNews and this is like the flu" When they saw #COVID19 with
their own two eyes? One ran to Human Resources and retired in a day and the other is terrified to go near ANY patient without a mask or full gear. When they asked for volunteers to work the entire #CoronavirusUSA Pandemic guess who did NOT volunteer? Here I sit, a volunteer again
having served my country before as a soldier. I hold hands as people die, give them comfort regardless of #politics ,and watched THREE walk away former #TrumpSupporters. PLEASE dont wait until death is at ur door to awaken #TrumpVirusCoverup #MondayMotivation #TruthFreedomHealth

Early on in this, I saw on Twitter a question: which would you rather overreact: (a) shutting down economy or (b) not reacting to the virus threat... I picked (a) because you can't fix dead.... let's unpack that. Thread. #CoronavirusUSA
When nascent tyrants ban fishing or buying paint in the name of medical safety, it's an overreach and a trampling of liberty, which is bad/stupid. But dead people have no rights to protect. 2/10 #LiberateAmerica
We can fix problems of infringement on liberty, but we can't resurrect someone who caught COVID-19 from a protestor at a state capitol who gave it to them unmasked and unaware they had the virus. 3/10 #COVIDIOT

Q: Is my #onlineshopping for non-essential items supporting the economy? or putting people at risk?

A: Probably a bit of both. While online shopping may help blunt companies' financial and employment losses, unsafe practices may place many workers at risk of contracting Covid-19
Here are some tips from @ConversationUK to consider when online shopping:

📦Reserve use of delivery--specifically for essential items like groceries--for those like older adults, single parents, essential workers, and those with chronic health conditions.
🛍️Shop Local. Smaller businesses are more likely to face financial strain. Many local shops have re-invented their workflows to allow for online shopping and #Contactless pick up. Check out your #Local shops first.

Via @WSJ - a #CoronavirusUSA study out of Santa Clara County, CA suggesting up to 4.2% of residents there have antibodies against the virus meaning the true infection fatality rate is somewhere in the range of 0.12% to 0.2%.… @TPPF /1
I suggested the same, based on emerging data out of a number of nations when I wrote in @FDRLST on Mar. 18 that the virus had a fatality rate "likely not too different than can be expected every year from common influenza"… /2
.@MollyJongFast then tweeted I was trying to kill people with @MartieTolman, one of her followers, calling for my arrest. (Seems a common issue with some folks and data, which is what it is.) /3 Image

What do we know about #COVID19 to date - a #Tweetorial (disclaimer....I'm a surgeon...) #meded #medtwitter #coronavirusuk #coronavirus #CoronavirusUSA #covid #covid_19
I put these notes together really to help myself learn about this virus. It’s obviously only just some key points. I thought I might as well put them in this tweetorial as I’ve never done one before. All info is from peer-reviewed journals and can hopefully be digested by anyone.
COVID-19 is the name given to 'severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)' by the WHO on the 11th Feb. It is the 3rd Coronavirus (CoV) to cause a pandemic along with SARS CoV and MERS CoV. All 3 are 'zoonoses' – i.e. have crossed into humans from animals

I was tired of hearing how Trump called the virus a hoax and “did nothing” until March.... So I did research. Here’s the real timeline of what happened (all of this BEFORE we had even one death in the US) :
1/6 CDC issues travel advisory for Wuhan.
1/11 CDC tweets about corona related “pneumonia outbreak in China”
1/14 WHO tweets that there is no evidence of human to human transmission.
1/17 CDC started doing health screenings at 3 airports of travelers from China.
1/21 first case in US for someone who traveled directly from Wuhan.
1/23 WHO again says no human to human transmission outside of China.
1/27 WHO raises alert level but is still saying China has it contained.

Bernie Sanders is hosting another virtual chat on the coronavirus. This one will focus on the devastating impacts of COVID-19 on African Americans.

Watch here:

Thread on livestream.
Bernie: In Louisiana, 70 percent of people who have died are African Americans. But African Americans make up one-third of population. #CoronavirusUSA
Bernie: In Milwaukee, WI, where unbelievably enough there is an election today—that's a whole other story—twice as many black residents have tested positive compared to white residents, while comprising only 27% of the population. #CoronavirusUSA

Front-line providers need to consider anti-coagulating their rapidly deteriorating COVID-19 patients. Could it be that severe endothelial dysfunction, resulting in microvascular thrombosis, is playing a major role in the rapid deterioration that we see in days 7-10?
There are a number of anecdotal reports of coincident pulmonary emboli and other clots, and subsequent rapid improvement with anticoagulation and even thrombolysis. commented on here: here:, and here:
Recent Italian research in this Webinar by ESICM posits two phenotypes, a type 'L' and a type 'H' Type L could be due to pulmonary microthrombosis and leads to a biphasic course with severe deterioration as clots hit multiple organs.

Q: Are the official numbers reported on the dashboards too high or too low?
A: The official numbers are most likely an undercount of actual Covid-19 related deaths.
Read this Twitter feed for a breakdown of the types of #COVID19 deaths written by fellow demographer @AndrewNoymer
The numbers on the dashboards only include those deaths that fall into Category 1, confirmed #COVID cases. Category 2 includes deaths that are misattributed to other causes (either due to lack of testing or false negative test results).
Category 3 includes deaths from other causes that have worse outcomes due to hospital overload. In Category 4, #Covid_19 deaths are displacing deaths that may have come from another cause in the coming months.

Q: Do all encounters with #COVID present the same risks for becoming infected and becoming very sick?

A: No. Definitely worth reading this full article but here is a summary = TL;DR = too long; didn't read
Prolonged one-on-one encounters with infected individuals (ex: a visit with a person with the virus or patient care in a health setting with infected individuals) carry greater risk of infection than short, indirect exposures (ex: passing someone on a run, delivery package).
When more virus enters your body, your body must work harder to control the spread of the virus. Keep up the #handwashing and #SocialDistancing to avoid encounters. Protect those that can't avoid repeat and prolonged encounters with appropriate #PPE.

Getting back to normal life will require knowing who is immune to #coronavirus and who isn't. Here's a thread on how #COVID19 tests work, how long after a #Covid_19 infection are they still valid, how to get one & what government can do to help get us back to work... 1/8
There are 2 tests for the actual #coronavirus:

1. Viral genetic material (RNA) is amplified by RT-PCR (real-time polymerase-chain-reaction). More virus, more fluorescence

2. Genetic material is read by a DNA sequencer to detect its abundance & genotype (~10 clades/types) 2/8
There's a 3rd type of RNA test being developed @mason_lab called RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcription Loop-mediated Isothermal Amplification). Advantages are simplicity, low cost, and insensitivity to contaminants from blood🩸or sputum 👄 3/8

Why do some people die from #coronavirus/#COVID19, while others show no symptoms? Why did I end up critical in the ICU, while my husband had medium-level flu symptoms for a week?

It might not be just about age and health conditions; there could be a genetic influence as well. (Thanks to @larry_falbe for the interesting article.)

THREAD: As we worry about shortages w/ the Paycheck Protection Program for small businesses, we should think about how to guard against companies that are relatively unaffected by the crisis but still qualify. They shouldn’t be taking the money. #CARESAct #CoronavirusUSA
2/ As a general principle, if it’s determined a business took the loan but didn’t need it, that business should be required to pay it back in full plus 1x penalty. #CARESAct #CoronavirusUSA
3/ Government would need to look at company net income at the end of 2020, and if you end up making more than you did in 2019, you probably didn’t need the loan. Obviously need to have a carveout for early-stage companies/start-ups and other outliers. #CARESAct #CoronavirusUSA

We've now surpassed 259,700 confirmed #COVID19 cases in the United States.

The death toll climbs to 6,603.
Over a quarter of a million Americans infected with the coronoavirus. That we know of.

This is the effect of doing nothing early on. Trump had an opportunity to shut the government down and get ahead of it, but, instead, he fiddled & now Americans are dying. #NegligentHomicide
