Every night I wake up, heart racing.
It's always three hours since I fell asleep. Sometimes less. Ocassionally almost four.
I want a different tune in my head than Imagine Dragons' Radioactive.

It's day 1,329 of MY #quarantine. Since I was paralyzed. Same view out the same window every day since they brought me back from the hospital.
They roll you into your newly-set-up hospital bed in your house on a sheet like some magic trick. And then you are on your own.

For 3yrs I have been trying to get out. Trying to get my exobitant insurance to pay for a wheelchair lift and motorized chair. I tried begging that millionaire guy, @pulte, for months. Now everyone non-#disabled is living like me & there's a whole supportive culture in 2wks. Huh.

So many people have been dismissive of my plight for all this time. Now some folks have been inside for a week, ten days, two weeks max and I dunno--it's day 1,329 of my #quarantine. My nurse practitioner told me I shouldn't mark each day like that in my journal. My imprisonment.

When this is over, you will all be set free. I will still be here, in #quarantine, like other #disabled people for whom the culture never stopped to consider how inhumane it is to make us live like this, day in, day out, for the "crime" of #disability.

I hope we all survive this. I hope when it's over I can find someone at Blue Cross who remembers what their brief little #quarantine hell was like and finds a way for me to get what I need to break out of this prison not of my own making. Day 1,329 of my quarantine. IMAGINE IT.
