No press conference tonight but there are a couple of things I’d like you to keep in mind:
First one of the dead today includes a man in his 50s with no underlying health conditions-a somber reminder that COVID19 is dangerous for everyone.

crowded today! This is not safe social distancing. Social distancing means physical separation of 6ft. If your biking jogging are walking on a 12’ trail, breathing the droplets of hundreds of people going in the opposite direction your not being safe. Today, don’t go there...
The @CityOfDallas @DallasParkRec is looking at options to alleviate crowding and I support that. No regulation can exercise good personal responsibility for each individual. I want you safe. 6 feet. #SocialDistancingSavesLives Now please go enjoy this beautiful spring day safely.
@KatyTrail too. Way too many people for safe social distancing! @DallasParkRec will address this as well. In the meantime, stay safe #SocialDistancingSavesLives Enjoy the outdoors but don’t go today or any day to trails if you can’t keep 6 feet distance at all times.

Today I added a few slides about Covid-19 to the beginning of the "Global Policy Analysis" class, before delving into the regular material. Students expressed appreciation that we took time to do that. @adinarom encouraged me to share it here in case it's useful for others.

We first took an anonymous vote, so that I could get a sense of where students were at regarding the topic:

It turned out the majority response was 2), with the smallest response going to 1).

2/n
We then started by looking at recent numbers of confirmed cases & how they have evolved in a steep increasing slope in most countries.

Looking at absolute numbers, Switzerland doesn't look so high. But we are a small country. In per capita terms, we are actually the 2nd highest:

BTW, no, experts do NOT think that the travel bans or quarantines were a good idea, necessary, aggressive, or anything like that re #COVID19. NOR have the US actions been "the most aggressive in the world." Please see, cordon sanitaire, 110 million people. FFS.
Also remember: no one working for the federal health systems are allowed to speak on #COVID19 without first having the message approved by Pence. So no one from CDC is going to be able to say "yeah no, mate, not true."
