These are among the 1st of dozens of scheduled flights carrying even more cargo through “Project Airbridge,” an unprecedented public-private mobilization led by the White House and funded by FEMA to expedite the delivery of critical medical equipment into the U.S. from overseas.
President Trump is mobilizing the full force of the federal government to get health care workers the supplies they need to combat the coronavirus.
As Vice President Pence announced tonight, the government has distributed more than 11.6 million N95 masks, more than 8,100 ventilators, and millions more face shields, surgical masks, and gloves across the country, with more coming every day.
"Every level of government - state, local, federal - is working non-stop to obtain more personal protective equipment for front line workers,” President Trump pledged on Sunday.
In addition to Project Airbridge, the Trump Administration has already used the Defense Production Act as leverage to mobilize the private sector to immediately begin production of medical supplies:
