Many countries in Africa have just started their slow phase and projections are peaks in May/June. There is no way the government will be relaxing control measures when local transmission is going up.
We need to support government measures to contain the transmission and these measures will be lifted only when transmission is down (watch China 5 months later!!)abc.net.au/news/2020-04-0…
This means we all need to think long term and survival so we have enough energy to push off the diving board when we are back. It’s not panic but preparedness and mitigation 👍🏽 #COVID19 @Amref_Worldwide
What’s important is for us to listen to the public health measures on social/physics distancing, hand and cough hygiene but it will mean businesses will close or slow down and many will lose their jobs or get salary cuts.
For businesses, it’s time to conserve cash and rethink capital investments in these months and try and keep as many people as possible in employment for this time
Will a vaccine or new drug reduce this time? Unlikely because the approval, production and supply lead times are long but we all wait in hope as scientists fight hard as they are.
Please support the healthcare workers who are tracing contacts and isolating them and treating them. They are our frontline soldiers 😷
