Video released by the Venezuelan Navy shows them shooting at the RCGS Resolute cruise ship then it shows the Resolute impacting the side of the GC-23 Naiguata and it shows severe damage to the Naiguata

The oil slick caused by the fuel from the Naiguata as it sank. This oil slick appeared the morning after the Naiguata sunk. It is outside of Venezuelan territorial waters (more than 12 nautical miles)

A statement from the RCGS Resolute on what happened with the Venezuelan navy which led to the sinking of the GC-23 Naiguata. The Naiguata attempted to divert the vessel from international waters and shot at and rammed the resolute.

The Venezuelan navy presumably didn’t realise the Resolute had a reinforced hull and suffered serious damage while ramming the Resolute which caused the vessel to start taking on water which ultimately sunk

The Venezuelan navy OPV vessel the GC-23 Naiguata was sunk early yesterday morning after it collided with the Resolute, Passenger ship registered in Portugal. The Resolute continued to sale to Curaçao without rescuing the Venezuelan crew of the sinking vessel.

It appears that the Venezuelan Navy was trying to board the vessel when it was hit, I expect the passenger ship to also have noticeable damage

Jorge Rodríguez says that they were going to be used in high profile assassinations including trying to assassinate Maduro. This could be correct at the weaponry and accessories are advanced and include night vision equipment.
This gear doesn’t look like it was going to a regular gang or militia. This is advanced gear probably heading to a small, professional group

The #RCGS_Resolute was in international waters while conducting repairs to one of their engines when the #Naiguata approaches and orders the Resolute to follow them to #Margarita Island.

Being a civil ship in international waters the Captain of Resolute uses the onboard Sat phone to call the head office for direction as this is a highly unusual and Venezuelan navy are notorious for seizing ships under false pretence.

While communicating with head office for direction the Naiguata opens fire on the Resolute and rams her several times. The Resolute however is an Arctic cruise ship with special hull designed for ice breaking so it sustains almost no damage from the ramming.
