If you’re an immigration reporter who’s working on a Saturday afternoon, here are five questions for ICE about its #COVID19 prevention protocols:
1. What measures has ICE taken to verify its contractors are complying w CDC guidance requiring masks and PPE for guards in detention?
2. How many facilities where ICE imprisons adults have administered #COVID19 tests, and how many results have been returned?

3. What percentage of ICE’s currently detained population falls within the high-risk guidelines published by the CDC?

TN Comptroller (and state parks enthusiast) Justin P Wilson tells TDOC oversight hearing his 200-page report can be summed up in one sentence:

“The Department did not have adequate controls to endure what they told you, the legislature, and the public is true.”
Tough to see how anyone in any other private industry would survive this sort of review.
Failures, large and small, permeate the audit report.

The message I hear over and over, which should be useful for anyone challenging conditions at TN’s prisons.

Bottom line—according to the Tennessee Comptroller, you can’t trust what TDOC says about what happens in prisons.

Now seems as good a time as any to pitch an article/study/analysis of how the nation’s current immigration bureaucracy and prisons are a perfect praxis of the Milgram Experiment.

Let’s dive in . . .
As understand the experiment, one thing it teaches is that people will inflict pain on others if they believe it’s their duty to follow instructions to do so, and especially if the victim is out of sight.

Even when they hear the screams, the persecutors will obey & continue.
Greater pressure from authority +
Machinery to distance the torturer from the victim + submission = torture under this framework.

In honor of the the D's #minibus surrender & NARA decision allowing destruction of documents about abuse in ICE detention centers, #FOIA documents we recently received for a single detention center -- currently the deadliest in America -- in Stewart County, Georgia. 1/
2/ A man calls to report suffering a neck injury at the hands of a detention officer and then not receiving proper medical care.
3/ An allegedly 2-year campaign of discrimination and harassment that includes retaliatory solitary confinement, denial of access to mail, and a failure of ICE to respond to prior complaints

Two types of test:

Viral RNA tests - RT-PCR - swab tests - to detect current infection

Antibody test - serology - blood tests - to detect previous infection
No test gives perfect 100% accurate results. Tests need to be evaluated to determine their sensitivity and specificity. More evidence here is needed - hence this call finddx.org/Covid-19/dx-da…

World War II led to creation of UN, IMF, World Bank & present world order. 2008 financial crisis changed financial regulation. 9/11 led to global war on terror,heightened government surveillance & tighter airport security.

My predictions on how #COVIDー19 will change the world:
The future of interaction is online. Instead of asking “why are we doing this online?”, the new question will be “why are we doing this in person?”. People will ask if meetings should simply have been emails. This is affect work, meeting, conferences, religious worship etc
Internet as a right. Government and individuals will start to see internet as a necessary infrastructure. Since outbreak started, schools & work have moved online. People without internet are at a disadvantage. Internet will become as important a right as healthcare and security.

Here’s what I wish everyone knew about #covid-19, especially young people who believe they are “low risk”.
1) “I’m not at risk” – everyone is at risk from the #coronavirus, and even young and healthy people can end up on a ventilator in an intensive care unit with this disease
2) “There’s no chance I have it” – you can’t know this without taking a test. The symptoms can be very mild, such as a runny nose or sore throat, and many people may not even get symptoms at all

The Task Force will identify immediate and longer-term economic recovery strategies for residents and businesses, with a focus on supporting those segments of the economy that are most strongly impacted by #COVIDー19, such as tourism, hospitality and entertainment.
The focus of the Task Force will be on quickly determining what current supports and stimulus work needs to be done. The City will be working with industry partners to identify actions to support businesses, workers, and residents in responding to the economic impact of COVID-19.

Here’s my bold prediction for how the #COVIDー19 pandemic will go for the US:

First will be California, with hotspots in LA, Sacramento, San Fran. New York City will also likely be an epicenter.
I expect that once we get solid proof of community transmission in the large cities, domestic air travel will be shut down or heavily restricted. Land transmission will remain as the only viable method of spread.
Worst to be hit will likely be the Northeast and Southwest, with some penetration into Middle America and the PNW. Also concerned about the potential to hit the southeast via Hartsfield-Jackson, the amount of traffic through there is insane.
