A thread: How I prepared for a #tech role in #FAANG
1. Technical preparation of #python and #SQL
2. Behavioral and cultural screen with @Latesha_Byrd
3. Deep dive on department domain and current tools and techniques
Technical preparation included practicing @LeetCode and @CodeSignalCom for #SQL and #python. I started to time myself and also spoke out loud what I was doing and why to get familiar with #whiteboarding etiquette. I also had my friends mock interview me.
I also utilized @TeamBatcode for more #python practice with primitive #datastructures and #Algorithms. It was consistent practice while talking out loud. I probably worked through about 50-60 problems.
#whiteboard etiquette is definitely an acquired skill. I started to think about questions that would give me the most information necessary to solve the problem. Also, I included what I did know and what I was stuck on throughout each problem.
For #behavioral and #cultural questions I read all supplied documentation from the company. Additionally, I purchased an a la carte service from @Latesha_Byrd to speak through my experience and find parallels between it and the job description.
I have worked with @Latesha_Byrd Latesha_Byrd previously as a client for 3 months which provided a solid foundation of my comfort with these sorts of #interviews.
I conducted #deepdives by looking up all #blogs related to the work of the team I was interviewing for which included asking domain experts. I researched the ongoing challenges and tools of this domain. @Medium was very helpful for this literary research.
I curated a long list of questions for each interviewer based on their relationship to me, their team and personal background. @LinkedIn was useful to figure out more about their personal background and job history.
I asked in-depth and thought provoking questions to blur the line between interviewer and interviewee to be more like a conversation between co-workers. Some focused on the relationships within teams, the interviewers journey to their current role
The success of industry standard tools or techniques on common problems, and finally my favorite question to ask every interviewer, “Based on this interaction, do you have any concerns of my fit for the role?”
