1. While #FB has partially banned top military accounts and pages (not the businesses), @TikTokSupport needs to immediately react and block the hundreds of accounts by 🪖promoting hate speech and inciting violence there
2. Not only in #Mandalay and #Monywa but also in smaller places people have begun to install self-governing bodies. This is exactly what the #military fears and why they keep kidnapping low- and mid-level state personnel at night: self-governance is powerful! #March2Coup#Myanmar
5. People are not stranded - they are protesting in the water! Here: #Monywa March1 - photo by @MizzimaNews Let’s not forget that we have seen many such photos of #Rohingya fleeing their country in the last years. All people of #Myanmar deserve to be safe and live in #democracy
6. Yeah, right. Wonder what these “specific projects” may be: “The senior officials from respective ministries also discussed on signing MoUs for their specific projects”. Also: SHAME on the Government of #India for doing business with 🪖and signing #MoUs! moi.gov.mm/moi:eng/news/2…
8. The 🪖 was always there. Ever since I set foot into #Myanmar (2009) they were there. In barracks, in #Rakhine, in #Kachin, in 25% of parliaments, in businesses. But now they are unleashed. They March through the cities and towns like aliens - they know they don’t belong there.
9. I agree with this (@SoupNotCoup). I also think that all attention now needs to be on getting #democracy back - as faulty as it was. Only then will there be a chance to amend the constitution and implement federalism in line with true ethno-religious equality. #March2Coup
10. I think that things are changing for the better: I see these messages in English and Myanma popping up more frequently. I am a radical optimist: yes, people “could have” / “should have” when the #Rohingya were murdered. They did not then, but now they do. Let’s focus on that.
12. Colleagues from #YangonUniversity declare autonomy (in light of the fact that a new Rector has been appointed today)
THREAD 22 of writing against the 🪖-coup. It might be on emotional shock and feeling numb. It might be on the suffering of others. It might be on a new advocacy group - or on all of the above. #March4Coup#CivilDisobedienceMovementMyanmar#WhatsHappeningInMyanmar Artist: Kuekool
1. This post by #Rohingya#activist@Ali_Jinnah_222 captures two things I want to write about today: being at a loss of words in regard to one’s own feelings - and being in #solidarity with the suffering of others.
1. The calls for “action” are getting louder. And rightly so! From the moment 19-year old Mya Thwet Thwet Khine was shot, the police/military has continued committing the most serious crimes. To shoot, beat, and arrest peaceful protestors is against national and international law
2. Since #Feb28Coup the day of #MilkTeaAlliance protests we have seen an escalation in violence by the military which no longer targets protestors but bystanders. It is also clear that people are getting executed: shot in the head.Result is instant incapacitation and likely death
