The latest data from the State of Worldβs Midwifery report shows the shortage of #midwives is most critical in 8β£8β£ low- & middle- income countries where 9β£5β£% of π maternal/newborn deaths & stillbirths occur.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, governments must ensure #midwives are protected with adequate personal protective equipment (PPE) & prioritized for #COVID19 vaccines.

#COVAX is the vaccines βpillarβ of the @ACTAccelerator. It is driving #VaccinEquity by working to deliver at least 2 billion doses in 2021, with a special mechanism to provide access to vaccines for lower income countries.
The first international delivery of #COVID19 vaccines from #COVAX arrived in #Ghana π¬π in February 2021, with essential workers & other at-risk groups prioritized in the roll-out. Worldwide, over 49 million doses have been distributed so far.
