It's #WorldAsthmaDay.

#Asthma is a common lung 🫁 condition that causes intermittent breathing difficulties. It often starts in childhood, although it can also develop in adults, and affects people of all ages.
Common symptoms of #asthma include

βœ… Coughing
βœ… Wheezing
βœ… Chest tightness

During an asthma attack, these symptoms become much worse. Asthma attacks can be fatal but are largely preventable and manageable.
#Asthma cannot be cured, but good management with inhaled medications can control the disease and enable people with asthma to enjoy a normal, active life.

For more info πŸ‘‰
Access to inhalers for #asthma is a problem in many countries 🌎
In 2019, only 1 in 2 people with asthma had access to a bronchodilator and less than 1 in 5 had access to a steroid inhaler in public primary health-care facilities πŸ₯ in low-income countries.
It is important for people living with #asthma to avoid triggers, including:

βœ…Viral infections (colds)
βœ…Tobacco smoke,
βœ… Grass & Tree Pollen
βœ…Air pollution
βœ… Animal fur &feathers
βœ… Strong soaps, and perfume.

WHO is working actively to improve diagnosis and treatment for #asthma, particularly in low- and middle-income countries🌍
