We have to be very careful up to 14 days after appearance of #COVID19 symptoms, infection can spread till then

A patient, even if microbiologically -ve, may be #COVID +ve, if consulting Doctor clinically diagnoses him/her as +ve

- Dr. Ravichandra. C
#Unite2FightCorona

✅80% of #COVID19 cases are mild - isolate yourself

✅15% may have moderate disease - #Oxygen level may go < 94%

✅5% may end up having severe disease - respiratory rate higher than 30/minute and oxygen level < 90%

Having mild #COVID19 ?

👉Isolate
👉Must to use #Mask indoors so that no one else gets infected because of us
👉Monitor temperature, O2 level
👉Have plenty of water
👉 Seek medical attention if you have high fever for more than 5 days / breathlessness

#Unite2FightCorona
If you have moderate #COVID19:

👉Use non rebreathing face mask to improve oxygen level
👉Proning, change lying position every 2 hours
👉Anti inflammatory medicines may help (as prescribed by doctor)

- Dr. Ravichandra. C

Only known source of infection is a person infected by #CoronaVirus

As soon as you are tested #COVID +ve, isolate, stay in well-ventilated rooms, seek health care as per severity

Respiratory etiquette very important

- Dr. Vineet Chadha, National Tuberculosis Institute
Most people don't use masks properly

#Masks are the most useful weapon in our fight against #COVID19, we need to know how to wear and dispose it properly

- Dr. Vineet Chadha, National Tuberculosis Institute
#Unite2FightCorona
😷Better to use separate #Mask for home and for office
😷Never place it directly on surfaces
😷Don't wash N95 mask with soap / detergent
😷Special care to be taken while disposing N95 Masks

RT-PCR tests may not yield +ve result in all positive cases, since its sensitivity is 60% - 70%

👉In such cases, CT-scan which has higher sensitivity may be required; but patient should NOT request for it; it is doctor's decision
- Dr. Ravichandra, NTI

Please spread the message
If you get #COVID19 infected after 1st dose, wait until your results become -ve; go for 2nd dose, 4 weeks after resolution of symptoms

👉Remember, even after taking #Vaccine, you should continue to take precautions
Vaccine helps prevent severe illness/death

- Dr. Ravichandra
If you are yet to take the #Vaccine but got #COVID +ve, you should delay #Vaccination by 3 to 4 weeks

If you get #COVID +ve, after 1st dose, delay 2 nd dose by 4 weeks after resolution of symptoms

- Dr. Vineet Chadha
#Unite2FightCorona
Ideal period of second dose of #Vaccine is 8 to 12 weeks; even if you delay by another 3 to 4 weeks, it is not going to decrease the efficacy of the Vaccine

- Dr. Vineet Chadha
#Unite2FightCorona
For pregnant mothers, no clear data on effect of #Vaccine on foetus

For breastfeeding mothers, better to wean baby into other foods and then vaccinate

But if chances of infection are high, better to vaccinate even if lactating

- Dr. Vineet Chadha

For those who don't have pulse #Oximeter:

Keep your palm on your chest, measure your respiratory rate for 1 minute

If less than 24, it is fine
If more than 24, it is moderate
If more than 30, it may be severe disease

- Dr. Somashekar

#Unite2FightCorona
High risk patients with pre-existing conditions like heart disease, hypertension, who have only mild #COVID19 disease and are in home isolation, can continue to take existing medications upon consultation with doctor

- Dr. Ravichandra

#Unite2FightCorona
Don't take antibiotics on your own unnecessarily; take only if prescribed by physician, after clinical examination & assessment of risks

Antibiotics are usually prescribed to take care of secondary infections, as a prophylactic, not for treatment for #COVID19

- Dr. Somashekar
If cough still persists, weigh loss is there, even after recovering from #COVID19, it could be a case of Tuberculosis (TB)

So consult doctor for early diagnosis and necessary action

#Unite2FightCorona
#COVID19 patient becomes non-infectious mostly 10 days after symptom onset

Hence, Negative RT-PCR test after home isolation is not required if patient is not having symptoms and no fever for last few days

- Dr. Vineet Chadha
#Unite2FightCorona

📽️
There is risk of catching #COVID infection even in open air even if we are wearing mask😷, but someone near us is not❌

That is why everyone needs to observe #COVID19 appropriate behaviours

Only then we can get over this #Pandemic

- Dr. Vineet Chadha
#Unite2FightCorona
Steroids are NOT advised in initial phase of #COVID19 infection

✅Advised only if #COVID patient is slipping into moderate/severe case, where there is indication of worsening of inflammatory conditions

- Dr. Ravichandra
#Unite2FightCorona
#Dexamethasone and Methylprednisolone have saved and save many lives, when patients are already on Oxygen support

- Dr. Ravichandra strictly advises not to use steroids in initial phase of #COVID19 infection

#Unite2FightCorona
When blood clot happens, it will present as a very dramatic, serious condition, requiring urgent attention

So, clotting will not be diagnosed unless D-dimer levels rise significantly/some very dramatic condition presents itself

Dr. Randeep Guleria, Dr. Naresh Trehan and Dr. Devi Shetty addressed some common misconceptions and apprehensions surrounding #COVID19

Here are the highlights of the discussion 👇
AIIMS Director, Dr. Randeep Guleria speaks on who needs oxygen.

In healthy individuals with oxygen saturation 93-94, there's no need to really take high flow oxygen just to maintain your saturation at 98-99 (1/3)

#IndiaFightsCOVID19
Oxygen is a treatment, it's like a drug. Taking oxygen intermittently is an absolute waste of oxygen. There is no data that shows that this will be of any help to you & therefore you shouldn't do: AIIMS Director, Dr. Randeep Guleria
