At this point, the Biden administration's appeasing of state-sponsors of terrorism is beyond embarrassing. #Iran
The craven lunacy here is truly awe-inspiring.
Terrorists are emboldened when Democrats run the White House because they are weak on national security and don’t understand the concept of leverage.
In the Middle East bazaar, it’s never good to look like you want something too much—even if the merchant is eager to sell it. In this case, we shouldn’t even want what they’re selling.
The difference in how the #Iran regime views Obama / Biden vs a strong Republican is clear. In 2011, the FBI uncovered an Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador by a bomb at a popular Georgetown restaurant just a few miles down the road from me. cnn.com/2011/10/11/jus…
Because the Obama admin was already wedded to the idea that we needed a (flawed) nuclear deal, we downplayed the plot & treated it as a “law enforcement matter.” The Biden admin used almost identical language so far with #MasihAlinejad. That’s how bad they want the deal.
By way of contrast, when Americans were targeted in #Iraq by #Iran-backed forces, Trump killed their main terrorist leader, Qassem Soleimani. The fact is the regime has no reason to believe we’ll walk away from the Iranian bazaar because we haven't.
Sure - many people are trying to say this #Iran plot was like the Khashoggi plot. They are wrong and the plot is far worse.

#MasihAlinejad is an American citizen on US soil and the regime in Iran is an enemy of the American people.
Khashoggi wasn’t an American citizen no matter how much corporate media tried to cover that up. He was a foreign intelligence asset on a foreign payroll. The plot unfolded on foreign soil and #SaudiArabia is an ally.
What happened to Khashoggi shouldn’t have happened but the inconsistency on the Left is breathtaking.

They’re more concerned with the rights of illegal aliens crossing our southern border than American citizens who criticize their favorite state-sponsor of terrorism.

A lesson here for Americans on politicizing intel.

Dems spent 4 years lying about #RussiaGate. They said Trump was their intel asset, the Hunter scandal was #Russia disinfo, and turned an international villain into a folk hero for too many on the right.
washingtonpost.com/world/europe/p…
In the zero-sum politics of lies promoted by corporate media, defending Trump from hourly absurdities soon soon turned to an embrace of the various boogieman.

For example, Republicans adopted "Deplorable" after Hillary's rant.
There used to be agreement on the obvious: Russia and the US have very different interests and work at cross-purposes. And Dems were always weaker on this.

Despite the stupid Dem/Media rhetoric, Trump was far tougher on #Russia than Obama and Biden is a wet napkin by comparison.

Of course #Israel didn't tell the US in advance about its attack on the Natanz nuclear facility in #Iran.

Here's a quick lesson for those who haven't paid attention. 1/x
6/1/12: @NYTimes exposed #Israel's involvement in deploying the Stuxnet virus in the Natanz facility. The story directly quoted one of Obama’s daily briefers who was in the room with the president and told him: 2/x
“We think there was a modification done by the Israelis...Obama, according to officials in the room, asked a series of questions... The answers came back in hedged terms. Biden fumed, ‘It’s got to be the Israelis,’ he said. ‘They went too far." nytimes.com/2012/06/01/wor… 3/x

Even before clicking on the NYTimes take, I’m curious how they’ll spin #Israel as the devil.
So the NYTimes version of the implications of the Israeli operation on #Iran’s nuclear facility is what you’d imagine: A bad take punctuated with worse analysis. Here’s a few examples... nytimes.com/2021/04/11/wor…
Uncertainty? This is an #Israeli gift of even more leverage the US can use with #Iran in negotiations. Iranian threats are now less powerful. We don’t need to rush into a bad deal as we currently are. Team #Biden however is allergic to leverage. There’s a reason for that:

I saw @DavidTafuri’s sober analysis of the negotiations w #Iran on @FoxNews. Where Netanyahu is right about a deal threatening #Israel is that at this point any deal that allows the regime to enrich uranium is too great a danger. 1/x
We’ve already seen how glacially slow the IAEA is to react to new evidence and how incomplete their picture is about known nuclear sites. We know there are multiple ways the regime has cheated, years before Trump left the deal. Of course Iran will cheat again. 2/x
We’ve already seen Europe decide that almost none of that matters. What they care about is inking trade deals w the regime. #Israel can’t count on them to act when they should. 3/x

How Dangerous is the Situation Between the U.S. and #Iran?

I joined @vali_nasr and @MicheleDDunne for a debate over Trump's decision to kill #IRGC-QF Cmdr Qasem #Soleimani, the fallout, and what will likely come next. Full episode video at the link:
@vali_nasr @MicheleDDunne The idea that the US lacked justification for taking out #Soleimani is bonkers. It's not even a matter of how imminent an attack is; it's all the American blood already on his hands. I explain 👇
#Iran #Iraq
@vali_nasr @MicheleDDunne As I explain, "we're at a point right now where most mainstream media in the US and the talking points among leading Democrats - including presidential candidates - are more pro-Iranian regime than the Iranian people are." #Iran #Iraq #Soleimani 👇
