Given my love for #travel, thought I'd compile a thread of some of the best #tourism ads I've seen over the years
Am keeping it restricted to #PrintAds, and only those by #tourismboards, whether national, state or city
Hope you enjoy it 🙂🥂 and are inspired to travel
We could warm up with #Australia's 'So Where The Bloody Hell Are You' campaign, which turned a lot of heads thanks to it's choice of wording and, of course, the stunning visuals
Politeness can be over rated, eh @Australia 🖖🏾
As far as accidental tourism ads go, #Banff in #Canada capitalized on a squirrel photobombing a couple's pic and made him their mascot, even creating a Twitter id for the little fella and featuring him in a whole set of ads
#Kerala in #India capitalized on it's stunning, verdant scenery and along with the slogan 'God's Own Country' created some beautiful, nature focused ads
While this one isn't a #printad, it's just too cool to not feature
#CanaryIslands hired folks to use felt pens & anti freeze agents to scrawl these inviting messages on windows in #London transport. If that doesnt make you catch the next plane, nothing will 😁 @gctourism
Riding high on featuring in the #LordOfTheRings movies, #NewZealand made a series of innovative ads capitalizing on that fact. And yes, the gorgeous, natural landscapes helped too 👌 Nicely done, @PureNewZealand
How about a series of ads that position the country as 'Not For Tourists' ? Got your attention, didn't it ?
#Panama took this unusual theme to get folks to come over, with some beautiful accompanying visuals
Not sure the tourism board had anything to do with it but a vintage travel poster for #Rio was just too beautiful not to feature #Brasil#Brazil@riodejaneiro (one of my fav cities in the world🤗)
The @VisitBrasil 'Come, Celebrate Life' campaign isn't bad either
Coupled with a simply amazing #logo (hats off to the designer, is it by @OgilvyInd ?) that captures the essence of the desert state, this works and how @my_rajasthan
Taking normal, everyday situations and showing how it's a lot more fun in the #islands nation, these ads are so evocative (remember Ms Phillipines answer - when asked how many islands are there in the country - she quipped 'High Tide or Low Tide😁)
Does #Jamaica really need ads to invite folks over ?
With many island nations across the world vying for #tourists, @tourismja came up with these cool visuals which definitely made you look again 😎. And hopefully hop on an airplane and 'Get All Right'
That's it for now
Hopefully, some of these inspire you to begin traveling again. Do share any of your favourite ads as well !
Stay safe and follow all the health guidelines, wherever you do travel to
Cheers 🥂✈️

Hilarious Thread re #Omicorn, received via Whatsapp
In just 48 hrs everything just went upside down. Looking at all the updates and social media posts, a colleague from my legal fraternity outlined the absurd response from the countries. Read On 😀
South Africa: Hey guys, look what we discovered in our labs while researching Covid19 variants and mutations
World: What??
SA: It's a new variant of Covid19 - seems to be different than others. Let’s work together & study further.
World: What? You have a new variant of Covid?!
SA: No no, we just found a way to 'identify' it. It seems, it has already been detected in HongKong, Israel & Botswana.
UK: Hey guys, no offence, but we already have 45,000 cases a day, we don't wear masks everywhere, allow large gatherings. But we can't risk a new variant.
Kind folks of Twitter, I need help in solving a personal issue ie lifting my sister
Avani, the angel of our world, is handicapped, no limb movement or communication possible. She has to be lifted from her bed on to her pram & vice versa about 6-8 times a day
Two of us usually do the lifting, one from the shoulders, the other from the legs
Am assuming she weighs about 45-50 kgs and since no communication is possible, her body is inert and lifting isn't easy, though within our family we've been managing last 40 years
Of late, twice while lifting (I usually do the shoulders, the heavier side), I've had terrible back spasms / nerve pulls rendering me completely immobile for a couple of days, with recovery taking ~2 weeks
It happened first time 3 months ago and I'm still suffering from the 2nd
