Welcome to Day 143 of #PutinsWar.
This daily thread aims to tell you everything you need to know about developments of #Russia's illegal invasion of #Ukraine and the heroic defence to keep 🇺🇦 free.
Updates may be a little slower/less frequent today as I am driving to London for UK premiére of #Ukraine film #SlovoHouse in Leicester Sq
About artists suppressed under Stalin, it's very relevant now & headlines the closing gala at the @iwilltell festival
1/2 Tomorrow will be 8 years to the day since #Russia blasted passenger jet #MH17 out of the sky. 300 innocents died from numerous countries inc UK, but mainly Dutch; families going on holiday
The Kremlin came up with repeated versions of "what happened" each new story proving..
2/2 the previous version was a lie. All #Russia's versions of what happened to #MH17 were callous lies to deflect the fact it murdered 300
Certainly similarities this week in #Vinnytsia where over 20 civilians died, Russia so far came up with 3 versions
Y'day evening was horrendous with multiple #Ukraine cities attacked.
The worst was in #Dnipro - casualty figures have not been updated from last night's 3 dead, 15 injured.
A lot of photos/videos on y'day's thread, plus other attacks inc here #Kramatorsk
Another town to be hit today is #Nikopol in south of #Ukraine, on the banks of the Dnipro/Dnieper river.
Kyiv says it has proof #Russia strikes Nikopol with rocket systems at the NUCLEAR POWER PLANT in #Enerhodar.
Two injured after grads hit 12 five-storey buildings and schools
The UK Intel report outlines how hard it is for #Russia to make further advances against a predominantly straight front line for the most at risk areas in #Donbas.
Photo journalists from @suspilne_news have been back to the residential street in #Dnipro which was hit by a missile from #Russia yesterday evening.
It's thought two of the three who died were in vehicles
Still on the attack in #Dnipro some remarkable footage this morning showing how close the city came to avoiding the death and destruction, and how difficult it is to intercept #Russia's missiles.
In the free part of #Ukraine 8 more civilians died in the last 24 hours, as detailed in this map from the #Kyiv government.
Numbers from occupied areas are not known. Similarly, the totals given on this graphic don't include the likely 10s of thousands of victims in #Mariupol
"Leave #Sumy" - that's the plea from mayor Oleksandr Lysenko.
"Avoid large gatherings of people and do not ignore the air alert. If there is an opportunity to leave the city, do it. Today, tomorrow and the day after tomorrow you should pay a lot of attention to your safety."
A large column of Russian equipment was spotted in #Mariupol, heading towards #Zaporizhzhia.
Petro Andryushchenko, an adviser to the city, reported the movement of 100 units of military equipment.
A 24th person has died as a result of the #Vinnytsia attack.
All rubble has now been cleared from the site of the explosion. Three people were rescued alive from the wreckage today. One person remains unaccounted for.
I try to report both sides, but cut the crap and obvious fakes. To give you an idea of what #Russia is claiming, they say in the last 2 days they've killed 600 #Ukraine troops in the battle for #Seversk alone. Plus another 200 in #Mykolaiv/#Nikolaev
The UK premiere of "Slovo House" not far away. Red carpet being rolled out soon.
I'm in Leicester Square #London for the event at the @Iwilltell film festival and Q&A. We are filming for Ukraine news channels and hopefully a future documentary about the film
#SlovoHouse, the award winning Ukrainian film is getting its British premiere right now. The last night of the @Iwilltell film festival in London is the "Peace Gala"
Director of #SlovoHouse Taras Tomenko says "this film was made before the full invasion, as a warning of what happened 100 years ago and may happen again, and it did happen again."
Hello again, thanks for visiting my Ukraine thread on Day 1353
Views/likes are down on both sites I post on: possible war fatigue
It's exactly what Putin wants from the world - to wear us down so we accept a deal to stop the killing
This will embolden Putin & hasten war v NATO
Here's the link for Thursday's thread.
It was a day which saw Ukraine inflict a fair amount of damage on Russia's energy sector and the crisis is nearing for Putin as it cannot export oil.
The energy crisis for Ukraine is about people surviving winter:
Welcome to November, which becomes the 46th different month to see fighting in Ukraine
And yet Russia is nowhere near its aim of Kyiv in 3 days.
Indeed 1,344 days behind schedule as we start today's thread on Day 1347 of the full invasion
Please think about sending a KoFi💙💛
Friday saw a lot of damage in Russia, an attempted counter-attack in Pokrovsk, Trump blank Orbán, power cuts in Moscow and so much more.
Clicking here⬇️will take you to the start of yesterday's🧵. Scroll through, catch-up then remember to come back here
Hello again, on Day 1346 of the war.
Russia's genocidal war, that's both the intent and the reality as Ukraine fights to keep not only democracy, independence and freedom but also to avoid its culture and language being eradicated.
This is THE daily thread. Happy Hallowe'en
Due to various different events, I am still awake & instead of adding to y'day's thread, I thought it best to start a new one, then get some sleep.
First, the link for Thursday's🧵which started with Russia's mass missile attack but ended with🇺🇦 attacking
Russia will not stop until it's stopped.
The war ends the moment Russia leaves.
Russia lies repeatedly (we won't invade Ukraine, we didn't kill Litvinenko, didn't kill 300 on MH17, didn't use Novichok in the UK etc etc)
We MUST NOT trust Putin.
Day 1345. Here's my daily thread
It's proved a very difficult morning for Ukraine, especially in the west. Russia tried to ensure misery and destruction, hits everyone across Ukraine.
At dawn missiles rained down, the start of the overnight attack was covered at the end of yesterday's🧵
It's Day 1336 of Russia's full invasion, but that only started because the world didn't provide a deterrent almost 12 years ago when Putin first tested the west's response by invading Crimea
The west failed the test. Are we about to fail the biggest exam too?
It's Tim's daily🧵
There was a big drone attack on western Russia last night, with Rostov in particular feeling the heat
There was also plenty of heat again on Russia's largest gas facility, the Georgian 'government' doing Russia's fascist work, and an a tragedy in Kherson
An explosive start to Day 1334 of Russia's 10-day operation to erase Ukraine from the map.
Not quite #EATP for Putin.
An early start to Sunday's thread as we have news from central and eastern Russia.
All the news, all the time, every damn day. Here we go again!
So much happened yesterday and the fireworks really started in the last couple of hours.
Do yourself a favour and have a quick skim through what you missed from Saturday's news about Ukraine's battle for survival. Incredibly only 14,000 views😳🫣
