It's Tuesday 18 Oct, it's Day 237 of #Russia's war.

Here's the start of the daily thread with all the news you need about #Ukraine and its defence against "the world's second biggest army"

Yesterday was so busy - missed something? Catch up here:

Well despite #Iran's denials, The #UK government is in no doubt that it's their "kamikaze" drones which are causing death and destruction, involved in a string of war crimes in #Ukraine.

No "maybe" or "possibly" - Britain says IT IS Iran providing #Russia with killing machines.
A very high number of #Russia's soldiers became fertiliser in #Ukraine's soil over the past 24 hours*

In addition, 35 drones shot down and a continued high amount of Artillery systems still being picked out by the Defenders.

The cowardly, aerial assault continues this morning.

#Zhytomyr, #IvannoFrankivsk, #Dnipro and the capital #Kyiv (photo) all under attack.
Again energy installations are the primary targets, with large scale power cuts happening already and likely to happen throughout the morning
#Ukraine's air defence has improved but stopping all of the weapons through the air will never be possible.

Here air defence takes out a missile mid air, a rare close up of the strike.

About an hour ago #Kharkiv was hit.

Mayor Ihor Terekhov says "there were two series of explosions in the city within five minutes."
Again, 'critical infrastructure' has been hit.

The metro has stopped and stations are used as shelters again.

As a result of the earlier air strikes back in #Dnipro, many residents report water is off.

In the attack on #Zaporizhzhia a vegetable warehouse was destroyed.

A security guard in the warehouse miraculously survived this carnage.

Police in #Denmark confirm "powerful explosions" underwater caused the gas leaks in the Nord Stream pipeline.

As a result of today's attacks by #Russia, two thermal power plants have been significantly damaged.

One plant worker died, another 7 were injured.

There is now huge strain on the country's electricity grid.

Meanwhile Ukraine is not allowed to strike 🇷🇺 with western weapons
Investigators in #Kharkiv say they've exhumed 600 bodies in the area previously occupied by #Russia.

In #Donetsk region, 5 murdered children have been exhumed in #Lyman. Four of the kids were buried in a mass grave, the other buried by his mother in their yard.

A new UN report identifies a catalogue or war crimes in #Ukraine.

#Russia is responsible for the vast majority, including illegal deportation, sexual crimes & of course murder.

Yet media of the Terrorist State only write about 2 incidents relating to 🇺🇦

#Ukraine defence forces say #Germany's Iris-T air defence system is already a big help on com at duty in the south of the country.

#Israel's Defence Minister refused to speak to his #Ukraine counterpart in the wake of #Iran's killer drones being used to smash the country's people and infrastructure.

However #Ukraine will officially request defensive help from Israel.

Well @Reuters tagging this as an exclusive though it was already well known and provable, but they do have quotes to back it up.

It's behind a paywall, but I found a free link for you!

An ex-#Russia intnl and now coach of Rotor Volgograd, Dmitry Khokhlov has won a court case against Facebook/Meta.

He sued them for blocking his page. His name is similar to an insult about Ukrainians.

But FB is banned in Russia as extremist so how does he know he's blocked?🤪
#Russia now admits 15 civilians, including 3 children, died when a military plane smashed into an apartment block yesterday.

It happened in #Yeysk, near #Ukraine territory.
19 other people were injured and 72 apartments were damaged.

#Ukraine has taken another swipe at the @ICRC

Head of the President's Office, Andriy Yermak, says "Unfortunately, the Red Cross not only tolerates Russian violations of all norms of international law, but also does so silently."

A woman in #Ukraine who sent photos of defences in her home city of #Cherkasy to family in #Russia, has been jailed for 10 years.

Tetiana Drobot wished the fortifications weren't there, justified Russia's invasion and even seemed to call for missile attacks.

#StandWithUkraine️
#NATO has promised to urgently provide #Ukraine with help to defend itself from #Iran's deadly drones.

#Russia has been targeting power plants and substations in Ukraine with the attack UAVs.

Head of NATO, Jens Stoltenberg says they'll supply hundreds of active jamming stations
#Kyiv now - automatic gunfire heard: presumably anti-drone defence.

Another site is reporting the drone is reconnaisance and not a "kamikaze" UAV. Still better to shoot the bugger down!
Latest score from Battle of the Drones:

🇺🇦1-0🇷🇺

A #Ukraine UAV shot down a Russian imposter in #Zaporizhzhia oblast.
Judging by the decision the Occupiers in #Kherson have taken, to evacuate most of the north of river, I'm fairly confident that #Russia is losing more ground and about to withdraw forces again to beyond the Dnipro 🤞

Day 1300 of Putin's war.
Another 100 days of fighting completed.
We are no nearer peace than we were 100 days ago.

Almost 200 days ago Trump demanded a 30-day unconditional ceasefire.
Not surprising as he started it, it's always Putin stopping peace.

Here's Monday's daily🧵
If you were busy over the weekend, click the link to see all Sunday's stories.

It was a day when Ukraine had to quickly repair a main railway line after a massive explosion, but they also managed to make multiple hits on Russia's rail and oil industries

The overnight bombardment from Russia remained lower than usual, although 84 drones and 3 S-300 missiles caused a fair bit of damage on 'soft' targets

With 59 UAVs stopped, that's a 70% success rate.
None of the missiles was intercepted either

The 28 hits occurred in 13 places Image

Day 1299 - the daily thread starts here, covering all things to do with the illegal invasion of Ukraine by its demonic neighbour.

Plenty to catch up on due to the late start today.
So no time to waste, let's go...
Apologies for the much later start than intended, due to a few technical issues, as well as Dad's Taxi being booked for a rescue mission😂

Before we look at today's events, here's the link back to Saturday's thread:

At the end of yday's thread, I wrote about what was a probable Russian strike on Kyiv's railway.

Ukraine's Gen Staff doesn't say it was an attack but admits a "detonation of ammunition on a train carrying military cargo"

Accidents happen, but either way it's a clear blow.

Hello on Day 1298 of Russia's full invasion of its sovereign neighbour. So, only 1295 days late in fulfilling the boast of taking Kyiv in 3 days. #EATP for Putin.

I've compiled a🧵every single day without fail.
You can help my work with a boost, comment, re-post or a coffee🙏
Friday saw more important visitors arrive in Kyiv (and another familiar place is in Ukraine today).

There was more solidarity and practical support, while Russia suffered more oil woes.

If you missed anything, click and scroll here:

I'll start in Odesa, because that's where the familiar face has turned up.

He was planning to return to Ukraine a couple of weeks ago, but couldn't make it, but now Boris is back.
Loved by nearly all Ukrainians, his early arrival (with Lord Ashcroft) meant he avoids the crowds. Image

Hello once again on Friday 12 September 2025.

Day 1297 of Russia's imperialist war, but the senior bully keeps being given a bloody nose by the junior school kid next door. How embarrassing for the "world's second greatest army" and more 'punches' thrown by Ukraine overnight..
There was so much in yesterday's thread.

Russia hitting churches, Ukraine striking a boat.
The US helping Belarus, which helps🇷🇺 & Trump questioning if the drone attack on Poland was a mistake.
Thursday ended with a Ukraine drone surge into Russia:
It was busy at Kyiv's main railway station this morning with two VIP arrivals making unannounced visits.

Prince Harry accepted a request to return to Ukraine saying "we have to keep (the war) at the forefront of people's minds."

Poland's FM @sikorskiradek hopped off soon after Image

Day 1296 of Russia's genocidal war in Ukraine, welcome to THE daily thread for Thursday 11 Sept.

My thoughts today are with all Americans on the 24th anniversary of a sickening terrorist attack, born of hatred.

It seems we learned little. A cycle of violence has to end.
Some may accuse me of hypocrisy, and that's fine, it's their right in a free world.

My strongest criticism is reserved for leaders who spread lies, try to brainwash and use people instead of helping them.

I don't hate all Russians, though I detest what the country has become.
If ever the U.S. and the free world needed to be unified, it is now, just like we were 24 year ago.

Russia is an existential threat to Ukraine even existing, but also to the way of life of all of us.

Yesterday was momentous, read the thread:

Here we go then, another day in Russia's imperial war on Ukraine

Too many "allies" of Ukraine lacked vision, understanding or balls, or all three and merely tried to stop the punching, while the US now rather sadistically aids the killing while shouting "peace"

It's Monday's🧵
Day 1293 has started quietly, but with politicians back in offices, there may be developments later.

Sunday was a day of violence, recrimination and clearing up after the worst single night's attack in world history, in terms of projectiles.
Review here:
No big developments to report on the ground in Ukraine yet, so let me brief you on two political stories to watch for this afternoon.

The French govt is likely to collapse, meaning a new PM will need to be appointed. Macron may choose very pro-Ukraine Defence Min @SebLecornu Image
