1. #Syria: No recent reports of Turkish attacks beyond the reported bombing of #Managh airbase near #Afrin and harassing fire in the #Darbasiyah district. A review of the Turkish media found nothing in the three main English daily papers. The Turkish language Ankara Gazeti
2. had an article quoting DM #Akar that Tukey's actions are legal under international law presumably reaction to reports where he was seen admitting to using #chemicalweapons in #Iraq. Not a very strong position and could indicate that behind-the-scenes diplomatic engagement is
3. not very positive for the Erdogan regime. #Turkey has air power and heavy guns but a poorly trained conscript army that will be chewed up and spit out by the US SOF trained SDF in urban warfare. Erdogan may have played his hand in the belief that he could extract concessions
4. of more land from #SDF but he made the big mistake to threaten #Kobane. Having reported on the battle for Kobane well-before the US began to provide air and material support in 2014, I learned that the #Syrian #Kurds will fight to the last fighter to defend Kobane.
5. So for now I expect Erdogan to focus on the area near #Afrin and try to bite off a bit more of that territory as evidenced by the incursion of armor and air attack at Menagh. The #SDF is not as strong in that area as in the #AANES administered areas to the east but I also
6. expect that the SDF will reinforce and hold at all costs. Turkey's bombing will inflict more civilian casualties and destroy more desperately needed civilian infrastructure unless the US imposes a no-fly zone. The @POTUS #Biden administration is still
7. focused on the #Finland/#Sweden @NATO accession in the belief that in time #Erdogan will relent. I think this is a mistake but only time will tell. For now Erdogan approaches the election season with a potential civil war in the east and at some point he
8. may decide that Kurdish #genocide is bad politics. But for now the border areas are dangerous and Turkey's attacks deep in Syria even near US forces creates problems not just for Erdogan but for the Biden administration that does not want to have a loss of the
9. #WarOnTerror on his score sheet heading into a difficult Congressional balance that has generally shown strong support for the Syrian Kurds, Ezidi and Christians who are defending the Turkish invasion and annexation of
10. northern Syria to create an Al-Qaeda and ISIS terrorist mini-state protected by a @NATO member engaged in ethnic cleansing of Christians and Kurds.

1. One of the structural flaws in the Chinese system is the absence of a non-violent means of persuading the government that they are heading in the wrong direction. If you treat non-violent protestors similarly to people who take to violence you create no disincentive to remain
2. peaceful. My undergraduate degree focused on Chinese politics. I've posted in the past how my professor of Chinese politics at Smith College where as a @UMassAmherst student I was privileged to attend through the Five College program, repeatedly professed that China would
3. never liberalize. A short time later, while in law school in 1989, three of my classmates were from PRC. During the student protests I would create a Chinese language news paper from the nascent internet and share it with them so they could keep up. I remembered the words of

1. December Surprise? When #thecreature stole the classified documents and left the Whitehouse, do you think he or someone in his circle ever discussed them on a phone, on email or texts that were not protected with DOD top-secret level encryption? I think they like did.
2. When evidence of the theft was obtained by China, Russia and perhaps lesser actors like Cuba or DPRK, do you think our FVEY electronic intercept network picked up any blowback from the foreign intelligence service[s] that intercepted #thecreature's unprotected comms?
3. Would there be any legal prohibition for US IC continuing to conduct surveillance regarding a massive espionage conspiracy that had been discovered by lawful foreign intelligence collection methods? Would #thecreature's foreign handlers want to know if they got caught

1. Sorry to harp on this but, where does it say corrupt federal judges and justices have to be impeached under the "high crimes and misdemeanors" standard of Art II that applies to POTUS, VP and "officers of the United States" that IMO is generally defined as executive appointees
2. who serve at the pleasure of the POTUS as delegates of POTUS' executive authority. And we know that a sitting POTUS can be charge but the DOJ has made a policy choice not to. That can change. But as to a sitting corrupt SCOTUS justice like Alito and Thomas there is nothing
3. to prevent their charges by federal prosecutors and I see no reason to think a state prosecutor could not charge them. What if they decided like their god of filth #thecreature, they could shoot people on 5th Ave. Would we have to impeach to remove? It's absurd.

1. Twitter is a monopoly. How can you tell? There's no current viable alternative and they have well over 50% of the market for news feed social media. If it is a monopoly, who has standing to sue under the Sherman and Clayton Acts?
2. DOJ FTC and anyone with tangible injury to their person or business would IMO. Clearly state AG's and consumer protection groups would also have standing but individual singled-our by E M and his racist misogynist hate groups he agrees to amplfy could prove an injury.
3. What would be the appropriate remedy? Loss of the exclusive rights of ownership of the Twitter platform that would require Twitter to spin off and populate with the existing account data at least two new Twitter-like platforms. At lease one would employ the section 230

1. We had gone to #Nantucket for a family August vacation. Our boys were about 3 and 4. When we left, we detoured through #Boston to take them to a #RedSox game. The plane was a "puddle-jumper" small twin-turbo-prop aircraft. The flight to Boston was bumpy.
2. As the plane was violently bouncing around people on it were clutching their armrests for dear-life while my oldest boy was standing up taking the whole thing in like he was on an amusement park ride. Then, out of the blue he shouted, "Mayday Mayday Mayday, We're going in!"
3. A man seated behind us who made for possibly a WWII or Korea era vet looked like he'd touched a live wire and shouted, "Will you shut that f*cking kid up?" And then, without any input from me, my son sat back

1. Remember, @SecBlinken can't save the SDF because he has sold us and them out to the Gulf States who wish to keep women as a slave class. The SDF represent the "no compromise on equality" crew in the Mideast. When you support Turkey you are showing you support misogyny.
2. Jin Jiyan Azidi is from this revolution to liberate all women on earth from second-class citizenship. The terrorist supporting Gulf States all fear their own women. They will ally with any terrorist like Erdogan to make sure women remain slaves. They fear revolution spreads.
3. I like @JoeBiden. Supported him since 1988, but perhaps the time has come for a woman to take command. If he doesn't want to get involved he can stay on Nantucket and let the @VP take the wheel. @TeamPelosi @SenSchumer @SenJackReed @RepAdamSmith
