#Hangzhou was the latest flashpoint for anti-#ZeroCovid measures last night. Since then it’s been pretty quiet on that front in #China. There’s a government #Covid press conference in just over an hour but we don’t expect any dramatic announcements.

There are reports that #Tsinghua University has been organising buses to send some students back home, or via railway station, so as to disperse the numbers on campus, following the anti-#ZeroCovid protests at one of #China’s top academic establishments.

Some official #China vaccine numbers from today's government press conference. Latest figures show, for people over the age of 80 here, still only 40% have had a #COVID19 booster shot. For those over 60, only 68.7% have had a booster shot according to this data. #ZeroCovid

Getting reports that several #Shenzhen subway stations have been closed tonight because messages were circulating for anti-#ZeroCovid protestors to gather. #China's huge security apparatus now swinging into action to stop these #Covid demonstrations before they start.

#Beijing's #Chaoyang Government has announced some easing of daily PRC test requirements. For elderly residents, or babies or students taking classes from home, the won't be required to do daily tests if they don't need to go outside. #China #ZeroCovid

There are constant reports on social media of various little flashpoints showing #China’s #ZeroCovid approach coming apart at the seams. Here’s one said to be in #Jinan, #Shandong Province, appearing to show residents trying to push past the “big whites” and get out of lockdown.

The hunt is on for those opposing #China's #ZeroCovid approach, as police start to track down protestors. Demonstrating is very risky here, potentially meaning prison time. Life sentences have been handed out for threatening the government's legitimacy: reuters.com/world/china/ch…

In terms of the above, footage has been posted online of police in #Shanghai checking the mobile phones of commuters on the underground railway. Apparently having apps banned in #China is enough to get you in strife...

Yesterday there was a meeting of the Communist Party's Central Committee of Political & Legal Affairs. A/C to the official readout, they called on the Party to "resolutely combat infiltrators and the sabotage activities of hostile forces". Searching for scapegoats? #ChinaProtests

Forgot something: How much coverage do you think there's been by #China's Communist Party controlled media of the anti-#ZeroCovid protests here since last Friday? Any serious media would cover these events in some way wouldn't they? If there's been one report I have not seen it.

A lot of police cars parked in the streets of #Beijing tonight with their lights flashing. All over #China, this #ZeroCovid unrest is being stamped out. (It’s also bloody freezing outdoors in this city tonight. You’d have to be a hearty protestor to be out there at the moment.)
