It's Friday 6 January. It's Day 317 of the war. #Russia's illegal war on #Ukraine.
But remember it's almost the 9th anniversary of the initial invasion by #Moscow including the occupation and annexing of #Crimea against all international law.
Here's my daily news thread:
It's actually been a quiet start to the day as it was to end Thursday evening.
But I know quite a few of you (especially on non Euro time zones) like to catch up on what you missed with one easy to scroll through thread.
In three weeks it will be 6 months since the #Olenivka (RU: #Yelenivka) massacre.
I am shocked to hear @StephDujarric say the UN has given up trying to investigate. They were "not able" to visit the scene of the crime - an admission of guilt in my book
However as we all know the town has been absolutely destroyed by #Russia. These satellite photos published by @Maxar
were taken less than 5 months apart: 1/8/22 and 4/1/23.
So at midday today #Russia says it will start a ceasefire.
It's immaterial either way. Fighting won't stop.
If #Ukraine hasn't fired within a few minutes, #Russia will lob some shells on its own and scream "nazis" and launch pre-planned missile/drone attacks.
Some say the conflict is frozen.
Let's see if the real freeze brings about movement.
The last of the mild weather disappears today with temps heading south of zero mid afternoon and probably not returning above freezing for a good few weeks.
Occupiers in #Donetsk may call up 16 year olds to fight against their homeland.
Spokesman of the #Odesa military administration, Serhiy Bratchuk, says according to their intel, Russia's stooges "have started collecting information about citizens born in 2006 for registration."
#Ukraine's southern command also reports a double blow to #Russsia's Air Force.
UA forces say they shot down a Su-25 plane and a Mi-8 helicopter during yesterday's battles.
No confirmation or estimates of casualties yet, if true.
Real heroes!
Great photos from Danylo Pavlov of the only remaining emergency services workers in #Bakhmut
These guys refused to leave the city saying they need to rescue and save lives in the devastated town. Some residents, mainly the elderly, remain in Bakhmut.
The total number of regular Russian soldiers killed in #Ukraine passes 110,000
#Russia says its' unilateral ceasefire has come into effect.
However, #Ukraine's Reintegration Minister, @IrynaVereshchuk, confirms the information I wrote about earlier in the thread of the high possibility of the Russia attacking churches as a false-flag.
Getting a bit close to home for the Mafia State this time.
The Foreign Ministry building in Moscow caught fire today. No reason has been given but it's said the blaze started in a "technical room". Anyone know if Lavrov smokes?!

The fire was soon extinguished.
#Ukraine sources are now confirming this in Tokmak was another disaster for #Russia
Ukrainians no longer believe in the Soviet creation "Father Frost" but they believe in #HIMARS.
Around 200 more newly mobilised invaders thought to be dead
Just days after the loss of around 300 troops. #Russia may be counting more losses in the #Donetsk town judging by the size of this explosion tonight, or maybe it's the predicted false-flag.
Shchaslyvoho Rizdva! Ukrainian for Happy Christmas.
I extend warmest wishes to those who still celebrate today in #Ukraine including those in Egypt, Eritrea and Ethiopia, and to all Russians who protest against the illegal war too.
Welcome to yet another daily thread as #Ukraine moves one day nearer victory in its bid to liberate its land from #Russia's illegal invasion.
We've reached Day 316. All the news updated here throughout the day, so come back and scroll through later.
DMs open for tip-offs.💙💛
Wednesday ended in lively fashion after a quiet day. If you missed anything, the big news was from #Crimea where explosions/air defence were reported in two separate towns.
This is the start of Wednesday's thread on the #RussiaUkraineWar and all the news around it.
The only place you need to look for all the essential information, updated continuously.
It's Day 315 of #Russia's illegal war. To catch up on yesterday, click:
I've had no direct update from eastern front, but gathering intel from various most reliable sources, it appears #Russia gained a little ground on the outskirts of #Soledar + #Bakhmut also, but have failed to get to the residential area which they briefly managed a while ago.
Thanks for joining me for another daily thread with all the important news surrounding the nations and Putin's illegal conflict.
Monday starts with many Ukrainians still under air raid warnings, but Russia looks to be hit too...
A flurry of activity towards the end of yesterday's thread as #Russia once again sent waves of drones into #Ukraine, again mainly heading for the capital.
Catch up on the whole day's events here by clicking and scrolling though:
The current threat seems to be dissipating. In some regions the all clear has been sounded, but not yet in #Kyiv. But the capital's air defence has shot down 10 attack drones so far tonight.
Different year, same story as #Russia's terrorism continued right through the new year, but lucky for you my daily threads continue to document the terror and war crimes.
It's already been a terrible start to the day
So much happened in the last hour of 2022 as attacks intensify over #Kyiv. Earlier there was another massive missile attack.
If you missed anything, check out yesterday's thread right here:
