I am at @UMCSN, Nevada's only level-one trauma center. @LVMPD has shut down most surrounding streets to traffic #MandalayBay #Route91

I understand there will be a media briefing here soon. I have already seen two police spokespeople here. Will update ASAP

I have seen a handful of nurses jogging into front & back hospital entrances.

I have seen a handful of citizens speed-walking away from trauma center. Color drained from faces. Scrambling on their cell phones.

A few other citizens pacing in parking lot.

I am around corner from trauma entrance. Staying out of the way.

UMC staff told parent Angelica Ortiz, 36, trauma beds are FULL, Ortiz said. (She just left ER for SEPARATE reason—son had allergic reaction)

Additional calls are being sent to Sunrise Hospital, which also has a trauma center.

Fire dispatch logs show dozens of medical calls.

I just shared a cigarette w/ 1 trauma & 1 ER nurse. Both shaken. "We are stacked right now. I don't think we've ever had anything like this"

ER nurse who said that has worked at UMC for 10 years. Trauma nurse just kept saying, "Jesus." No estimate but multiple people shot.

Trauma nurse phoned a loved one. Got on ground, head down, took deep breaths. More & more staff wearing scrubs keep filing in UMC entrances

Growing group of citizens gathering near trauma entrance. Many on phones. Many crying. 1 woman screaming, "I don't know, I don't know"

Nurses said this all began w/ pair of officers running into UMC trauma entrance, helping carry a woman who was shot. Then, rush of patients

I am now headed to @LVMPD HQ, where sheriff or undersheriff is expected to give a briefing. Police confirmed all med calls going to Sunrise

Per @Sheriff_LVMPD: 100+ shot. 20+ dead. 1 officer in critical, 1 minor inj. Some off-duty officers who were attending #Route91 are dead

Shooter who is confirmed dead was a "local," per @Sheriff_LVMPD. Did not specify where from. Could at least mean anywhere in Clark County

Las Vegas: If you cannot get hold of your relatives, come to @LVMPD HQ. 400 S. MLK Blvd, near Alta Dr. Police can give you info here.

Of the 100+ injured, @UMCSN has about 50 patients, per hospital spokeswoman. "Several critical." Other vics are at hospitals around valley

Las Vegas: If you are still on the Strip, @Sheriff_LVMPD advises to shelter in place. First responders will come to you.

"We do not know" if man dead acted alone, per @Sheriff_LVMPD. Man's "roommate," a woman, may have been involved. "He was the sole aggressor"

Las Vegas: @LVMPD asking for public's help in locating 2 vehicles: Hyundai Tucson, NV plate 114B40, & a Chrysler Pacifica, NV plate 79D401.

If witnesses have video or photos, @Sheriff_LVMPD is asking you to bring it to police HQ, 400 S MLK. When you can, of course. I'm so sorry.

From @LVMPD HQ I can see that the Stratosphere, the North Star of the Las Vegas Valley, has gone dark since tonight's mass shooting on Strip

Just got word from a source in UMC's trauma unit, briefly describing scene:

.@LVMPD: Authorities have made contact w/ Paddock's roommate, Marilou Danley. They don't believe she was involved. Still looking for car:

.@LVMPD undersheriff Kevin McMahill just confirmed shooter Stephen Paddock died from a self-inflicted GSW just as police made entry to room

Long guns, scopes found in hotel room, McMahill said, but no other details on contents of room

"Infuriating is probably a good word to describe it," McMahill said. A few other words he'd like to use too, he said.

McMahill commended all first responders. "I ask that the country keep Las Vegas and these victims in its prayers."

Just want to add that @LVMPD was kind enough to let me use the restroom inside HQ. Finally got a second to cry.
