I'll update if anything changes. Kind of a letdown ending so far. It'll get better.

Mom in AZ called local post office. Spoke with clerk and postmaster. Asked for updated information and was told
We are actively trying to recover the package today.
What does that mean?
Well, we are expecting it to be returned.

How's that Now?
It means that we've been in contact with them and are holding all of their package deliveries until the parcel has been recovered.
...and what if it doesn't?
Well, that's when we get the postal inspector involved.

So, we will see. Waiting to find out the carrier that delivered the other missing package ( from AK) alaska, not adam kwarsey Monday morning. Part of me hopes that it was delivered by the SAME carrier

Carrier dropped by this afternoon. Said she had just been down talking with asscrack. Asked him about the package. Relayed to him that the carrier remembers delivering 2(!) packages and handing to a male. GPS shows [Carrier holds up scannermajig] that it was delivered

Delivered right here in this driveway. So could you take a look blah blah blah. Dude denies ever seeing the post carrier. Remembers seeing both UPS and FedEx though.

She says to me that she knows the parents down there and it doesn't seem in character for them

I said me either and at the same time she and I both said I don't know him. She said her spidey-sense was raised after talking with the dude. Said he seemed nervous and shady.

So recall earlier found out another package was expected from AK.

asked if she said 2 were delivered

Because I got a message from one of the kids that said a package was delivered Monday and shipper in AK had called to see if it had arrived.

Shit.

At that time I didn't know who the package was shipped with.

Hazard a guess?

Aye.

Same shipper as the other missing package.

Carrier remembers delivering 2 that morning.

So yesterday that's why he wanted to know the name on the package that I was looking for, yeah? Otherwise it's the one not fucking labeled to you

Coincidence?

So I'm here tapping my toes listening to the rain and weighing out my next step.

Go do something and let my thoughts clear.

I'm back in my shop. I walked down and decided better of it.

But I really wanted to keep on walking until I was standing in the doorway of that shop

So instead I'll put on some music and turn it way way up and focus on something else.

But I'm gonna keep on thinking about walking down and asking him if he's going to send both grandmothers thank you notes

The packages were for the kids.

What an utter fucking scumbag.

Confirmation that there were in fact 2 packages delivered and both tracking numbers indicate same delivery time. 0803. Neither has magically appeared.

With second package tracking number showing same delivery time let's stop in at the post office and see what's what.

I thought I had rid myself of this cold/flu/sickness but spent the day the getting my ass kicked for round 2. Fell asleep and woke to a phone call from Mom saying she had a call from the post office.

Post office fella told her that yeah the postal inspector had been briefed and to be honest, 2 missing priority mail packages is low on the list and maybe a report should be filed. She was pissed. Understands, bit pissed.

I faded back into my cold induced delirium, setting this aside for a day that I felt more human. Maybe tomorrow.

Fast forward to about 2020 this evening. MIL was trying to make a call and while dialing 971 she accidentally dialed 911. Said sorry and hung up and kept this bit of information to herself.

At about 2035, the dogs start barking and A says hey there's someone wearing glasses walking up the back steps. Sure enough there was someone there. A WCSO deputy.

Hey sorry to bother you but I'm here because there was a 911 call and hang up. Everybody here Okay?

Yeah man, we are all cool here.

Okay

Lightbulb goes off in my head. My MIL was trying to make a call and may have hit 911 by accident

So he talks to everyone and makes sure we are all good. As he's getting ready to leave I asked him about making a report . I wasn't sure if the guy at the post office was blowing smoke so to speak

I asked about how I'd go about making a report. Gave him a quick synopsis. He said I'd need to talk to a deputy. I figured he was going to direct me to some county office to file a report with a desk jockey

Talks into his radio asking to close out the errant call and to put him on a cold case robbery (his words) at the same address. Gets out his notebook, pen and looks at me. I recounted the saga. He took notes and asked questions.

Says he works graveyard so talking with the post carrier and clerk is something he'd have to ask day shift to do. But he could go and talk to them (neighbors. Asscrack mechanic is son in law) and see what he could find out.

Gave me his card with the case number and told me how to contact him if anything changes. Like if the packages magically appear or something. Got in his cruiser and drove down the hill. I watched his taillights turn into the neighbors.

Fuckin-A right I stood outside and watched them talk in the beams of the headlamps. Couldn't hear anything that was said but I could see that the deputy was talking to Mr. Neighbor and not the asscrack mechanic

Watched Mr Neighbor climb his front steps and goes inside as the deputy heads down the hill and onto the rest of his shift.

Things happen in strange ways, yeah?

We'll have to wait and see what shakes out.

Spent another day laid out with the crud. H woke me from a nap and handed me the phone with wide eyes and said
It's a Deputy from Washington County for you

Basically repeated what I'd said the night before and if I knew the name of the postmaster in Gaston and what was the name of the clerk again
