“Executive time” watch
The President largely experiences his own presidency via TV coverage. I don’t know how to convey the insanity of this - extends beyond @poniewozik’s brilliant Fox & Friends piece (nytimes.com/2017/07/19/art…). Trump is the star in a TV show about himself that he watches all day long.
Reminder: almost everything Trump knows about the presidency and the larger world is from television. So it makes a certain kind of sense that he sees his role as being on TV and then watching it to gather more information.
