Today is a day of huge participation for the yellow vest movement. There is significant presence in a huge number of locations today, but best of all Paris is a major conflict zone once more.

Seeing the cop on the left get kicked in the face is pure joy.
Everyone loves this boxer. He is turning into a meme on French meme sites now. "Le boxeur mythique", like a cop-bashing Technoviking. He definitely looks like some kind of Norman warlord.

The vests have returned in force to Puy-en-Velay, where a month ago they set fire to a préfecture (French equivalent to a federal building) with the head préfet still inside.

Someone may have told them of the Killdozer, because today they are menacing with heavy vehicles.

My son spent the first two weeks of his life in Neonatal Intensive Care.

Moments after being born a month early, he was laboring to breathe, desperate for air. He was dying.

He nearly didn't survive his first 24 hours.

His life was saved by 27 doctors and nurses.

During those agonizing days, my entire world revolved around only his survival. Life stopped. I lived at the hosp. I learned every machine. I got to know every caregiver.I barely slept or ate.

His health was all that mattered.

2/
The day he came home from the hospital was the happiest day of my life.

To this day, more than 10 yrs later, I still trace my fingers over the two near-invisible scars on his chest from where doctors ran tubes to vent pressure from a torn and collapsed lung.

It changes you.

Two weeks later and I still can’t get a straight answer from Chicago pd on an arrest I’m reporting

This is how stories die on the vine, which is not incidentally why it’s so hard to get a statement.
So far I’ve spent fifty hours on this story, and I can’t sell it without an official response.

I make $1300 a month base, and I am the sole support for four people.

At a certain point I can’t afford to tell that story.
I note this because every reporter or journo will have constraints on their time or resources. Officials know and exploit that.

Labour ⚒ unions are planning to shutdown the electricity tonight or tomorrow should Eskom not give them the 15% increase.
This is what a complete nationwide blackout would mean:
1) No running water. 💧 🚽
2) No communication networks ☎️
3) And yes, no internet 📱
4) Sorry you can't fill up your car or generators⛽️
5) No ATM's will work, No credit cards will function. 💰
6) You probably can't buy anything. 🙀
7) Hospitals will run out of backup resources. Sick people might die. Poor hospitals don't have backups, they will be first to die. 💀
8) All investment from outside will stop ✋.
9) Economy will completely collapse and there will be a food shortage. ☠️

1/ In 2016, we were attacked by the Russian government. The Department of Homeland Security notified 21 states that the Russians attempted to penetrate their voting systems, and some state voter registration rolls were penetrated. nbcnews.com/politics/elect…
2/ One expert described the attack to me as the most serious attack on the United States since Pearl Harbor. Another said that it was a “probing attack,” meant to gain intel to enable a more serious attack in the future.
3/ We haven’t heard much from our president or his Administration about this attack, and sadly that isn’t surprising. Trump is more critical of NFL players than he is of Putin.
