Know who I hate the second most after magabots? The fucking pricks sitting in their living rooms thinking about football and barbecues and saying shit like "I'm so sick of the partisan fighting" & there are so many of them! SO MANY and THOSE are the ones the politicians fight for
Like they just don't give a shit about the world outside of their fantasy football league and their pta fundraisers and it's all just noise to them because they don't think anyone besides their little group matters and THESE are the swing voters who set the tone for the nation
And when this is all over? In 30 or 50 years? Their children will take credit for the consciences of the people who fought against the injustices and they will deny responsibility for those who stood idly by or who fought FOR them and they will ignore and complain about politics
And like the people who don't give a shit right now, they'll decide that all the *real* atrocities are in the past and that they're super enlightened now and nothing as bad can ever happen again. No matter what happens in front of them, they'll tell themselves this.
They don't decide what's an atrocity based on evidence, they decide based on whether or not they give a shit and if they don't, well it must not matter. The hardest thing about growing up has been learning that most people are just fucking empty.
They'll look at papers like wapo that boil it all down to "bipartisanship" or a plagiarized line in the speech that they won't say is plagiarized and they'll be comforted. They'll take it as confirmation that people like us are just overreacting and they're right to ignore it all
The leitmotif of the trump admin is everyone wanting to discuss unimportant details as though they discredit the bigger, more horrifying picture of what's happening right now because as far as they're concerned the WORST POSSIBLE THING would be "overreacting"
