So @Patreon suspended my account.
They did this in secret. They have not notified me.
I simply noticed that they stopped sending me money.
They haven't stopped collecting money though, they're just keeping it. No account notification, no email. I just have this tiny little message hidden in the account section on the site.
What an awful way to treat people. They can still send me their crappy newsletter but letting me know that I've been suspended and my money won't be arriving, right before the holidays, that's some next-level shit.

One time when I was like 12 I went to a pool party in jeans and a hoodie cause I was so insecure and when I finally got the confidence to change into my swim suit a girl grabbed my (chubby) stomach and yelled "What is THIS!" in front of everyone and it ruined everything lol
It seriously broke my heart lmao its like one of my most vivid memories. I deadass went and changed back into my jeans and probably went and ate my feelings cause I was a fat bitch😂
I wanna say that the person who said this truly is not a mean person and I think she truly was just joking but it was hurtful to me. I have no hard feelings towards her at all. Lots of people have said a lot worse to me over the years lmao.

Yes, my book has gotten a lot of exposure. But ALL of that exposure is a result of *years* of hard work/networking/hustling behind the scenes.

I'm not Ivy League. I didn't come from family money and I have no special connections. And I'm a woman in a male-dominated profession.
But I got to speak at the Carter Center for one reason: I didn't take "no" for an answer.

They never let authors of first books speak there. They originally said no. But I respectfully and convincingly asserted that I could draw a crowd & sell books.
I've struggled all my life-as many women do-with confidence. I still have terrible bouts of impostor syndrome. (I often have a recurring dream where I'm at an academic conference hotel searching for a room. They never have one for me and I'm left wandering aimlessly.)
