2. Nobody can make a valid argument you need an assault rifle for hunting. An assault rifle at home can kill your neighbor and not just the intruder. They are not for home defense. There are much better home defense alternatives.
3. Fact is they’re fun to shoot. Most folks who have them take them to the range. Some may live in remote areas but most folks shoot legally at a range.
4. Cities in western Mass where I grew up all had armories. I think they were used for the local militia going back to the civil war. Northampton had one. On King St. Across from Duncan Donuts. @maddow
5. If people can pass a background check they can own one but it gets kept at the armory. Meaning a regulated range that stores the weapons under lock and key. Like it says in the constitution. “Well regulated..”
6. Scalia didn’t even cite this statute in Heller. He wandered in a historical dreamworld that didn’t even acknowledge that the Militia was not simply a theoretical abstraction. It’s a thing. @maddow

8. Any concern that storing that many guns in one place would encourage some rebellious folks to try to seize them is easily remedied by having everyone remove the bolt to their weapons. Take them home.
9. I really don't believe that private "patriot" armies are constitutional. DOJ is supposed to track these group but I don't see evidence they do. Non military arms can remain at home. The military stuff has to be treated like military stuff.
