Gotta give you credit for your NRA-style tactics. While unoriginal, it’s amazingly consistent with their members’ messages that those who oppose guns-anywhere don’t have the right to be in the debate, “to insert” ourselves. That’s often tactic #1.
Tactic #1 - delegitimize us with gunsplaining. Tell us we can’t be in the debate because we don’t know the rights names, terms, numbers, categories, costs of guns, ammunition... But guess what: we don’t care! We know our goals and won’t be quieted.
Tactic #2 - Whataboutism. Change the topic to dilute our energy. What about Chicago? What about metal detectors? What about Nice, France and big trucks? What about abortion? WhatEVER. Go ahead and join those other fights. I’m staying right on topic.
Tactic #3 - Evenifing. Even if we do X, it wouldn’t have prevented [insert scenario to fit point here]. Pffff 🙄. We’re not looking for a one-and-done law. We’re creating a system of laws and regulations that will make us safer from many scenarios.
It’s a transparent playbook and we see right through it. Smh. Bye.
Tactic #4 End-Times - this is either the confiscation fear or the revolt against a tyrannical government argument. It is highly charged, emotional, paranoid and fear-based. It is also not rooted in any reality what.so.ever.
Tactic #5 Release the Memes! Used for rapid-fire thread domination. Has no impact on the dialogue because the person is too lazy to engage. It’s the equivalent of shouting into the room, then storming out and slamming the door. Meanwhile, the rest of the adults are still talking
