It's wild that the Parkland shooter had a swastika carved into his gun, wore a MAGA hat, and explicitly expressed his hatred for Jews and black people but all these things were excluded from the subsequent conversation.
Since the Parkland shooting, we've talked about guns, we've talked about mental health, but the shooter's outspoken white supremacist values and where they came from are seen as non factors. Why?
We all know that if the shooter expressed support for ISIS online, it wouldn't just be taken into consideration, it would be seen as the direct cause of the terrorism. And yet people insist on acting as if violence isn't white supremacy's goal too.

Had the Parkland shooter even expressed sympathy for Black Lives Matter or wore an Obama hat instead of MAGA, the pitchforks would be sold out all over. People's selective outrage and lack of self-reflection is the fuel white supremacy depends on...And right now it's thriving.
I wrote this thread on the growing danger of white supremacist groups if you'd like to share and help ring the bell.

In my humble opinion, this was the most underreported story of 2018. We're just over a decade from global catastrophe, and I'm just not seeing the sense of urgency this deserves from most politicians or the media.

1. I grew up in segregated South where real racism existed. I live in a small rural town. A young black woman was murdered by a jealous boyfriend. She was loved at the high school, great athlete. WHOLE town put green ribbons on their mailboxes in support for last name was Green.
2. There was a prayer vigil and the whole town came to pray for the murderer to be found, and for God to comfort the family. I wrote a story for our local paper and the mother was so kind to talk to me.
3. I do not see white, black or brown. God created us all. We are ONE nation under God. Who profits from dividing our nation? Who is hurt by this call by always screaming division.
